Yesterday
Morning! Raja ate a little this morning. She had a rough day yesterday and the day before. We went to the vet yesterday and had blood and urine drawn. Awaiting the blood test results. I had them do a Pancreatiti$ te$t too....ju$t for the record and ju$t in ca$e...cha-ching, cha-ching. :-| Might as well try to do that too and cover as many bases as we can. Since Shadow had it, and now Raja is not eating as she usually does, well, I figured it was either a UTI or Pancretitis. The urinalysis came back that she was suffering with a UTI. I am just praying that she doesn't have both but I will not rest until the test comes back. We can also check all the other values and see how she is doing otherwise.

So, she ate last night at dinner and again at her midnight snack time at +4. She vomited before the +8 snack time and was in her cube in my bedroom. I carried her into the living room and she has stayed out there so far today. She ate the snack and then ate a little at breffis time too. So, she is in the other cube and her brother is nearby in a basket. I am happy that she is not in my closet where she spent many hours yesterday. For a change, I got the pill form of Clavamox and have some greenies...the allergy kind...from way back when they were selling those. They smell ok...and both kitties seem to like it. I gave the tiny Pepcid dose to Shadow in a little bit of the greenie and that went over very well. so, I tried it with Raja...the second time she was onto my tricks and she spit it out, but i got it back in her mouth. Today's doses will be more of a challengel. She is just too smart for me!! She quickly figures out every time i try to put something over on her and then we have fights. LOL. Smart little girl kitty!!!
I have always done the liquid drops for her in all meds in the past and it's always a big production. Thought I'd try the pills. Ya know...I don't know what to do anymore...
Sending out hugs and love to you all today....hope you all have a great Tuesday!! :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Morning Pat ~O) ~O) ~O)

So sorry for the higher numbers for raja, and the UTI. I so hear you on the P'titis, the te$t and the $. but best to know for sure. I hope you don't have that in the mix too. I know Mannie' numbers were always higher when he had a UTI, and his behavior was much as Raja's is. Hope fully the AB's will fix things up soon for Raja. I had to smile over the pill and the pill pockets... That is so Mannie... he too would catch on to what I was doing, and now will not eat fuds that he knows (and he always does) that have meds in them. So alot is via Manual insertion.... or BFood, if I can get that in him. If the AB's upset her tummy maybe try some Greek yogurt? If she likes dairy. Mannie had such issues with liqui-poo when on the AB's last time, and the yogurt did help settle his tummy, took care of the LB problems.

Be well Raja!

Hi Pat, so sorry to hear Raja's been sick and now has a UTI! I pray no pancreatitis. Mags just got over a UTI/Kidney infection and was on liquid Orbax six weeks. I'm glad Raja is out of the closet and in the cubes where Shadow can watch over her. I use Greenies, too, for Mags. Like Michelle, I have to do a little of the manual insertion with her mouth  and then a squirt of water with the syringe to make sure it goes down the throat. Sending healing vines and hugs to Raja.

Hi guys .. I'm sorry that little raja is suffering from a UTI .. fingers crossed that is all she is dealing with .. I know it's frustrating but it brings a smile to my face how quickly raja catches onto you trying to sneak something past her .. she's too smart for that nonsense! I hope the UTI clears soon .. have a great day guys!

I used yogurt for BigMac and it seemed to help. He didn't eat much of it just a few licks... maybe a teaspoon total. Also I used the pill form of Clavamox because the vet told me the liquid tastes really awful. While pilling BigMac was not fun, it was easier than the drops. He figured out the pill pocket trick too.

I tried Julie/Punkin's trick of rolling up several tiny balls of the pill pocket material with the second or third one having the actual pill. So he'd eat the first two with gusto and then eat the pill without realizing it. That worked a couple of times but he got wise and ate the coating off and spit out the pill. So I got a pill popper thing. It doesn't really pop (much to my disappointment). It is just a skinny tube with a pusher inside that pushes the pill out the end. I buttered the pill and placed it in the end of the pill popper, stuck it in his mouth as far toward his throat as possible and pushed the plunger which allowed the pill to drop off the end of the tube. It basically just replaces using your fingers so you don't get bit. And you can stick it a little further toward the back of their tongue than you can with your fingers. Then I squirted a little water in his mouth with a child's medicine syringe.

Medicating is no fun. I hope Raja feels better very soon. You both will be happier. :YMSIGH:

Hi Pat,

I'm surprised that you don't want to come up here to practice your luge

Sorry that Raja has a UTI, but with the antibiotics she'll get over it soon. Maybe you can crush the Clav. pill and put the powder into baby food or something that is not her regular food? (to avoid food aversion). I know that the liquid stuff tastes awful. The Greek yogurt with active cultures works to keep the good bacteria in the digestive tract from being killed by the a/bs. You can also use FortiFlora sprinkled on food; it is a pro-biotic and tastes good to cats.

I see that Shad-0 is having good numbers, so at least you don't have to worry about him. Fingers and paws crossed that Raja's lab tests come back negative for pancreatitis.

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty
