Happy Caturday Everyone!

I hope everyone is having a lovely day thus far.

All is well in Kismet land. He got his breffi before us today (I got up, T,S,F and then went back to sleep) so it was a serene morning when we woke up and had our breffi. This will only make sense if you saw Kismet's Breffi Tips from Yesterday's Condo. I think I may have given a fur shot this morning :roll: Half asleep and micro dosing are never a good combination.

OT: Yesterday was a good friend's birthday, so we had her over for a dinner party. I made, at her request, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and peas. After everyone left, I made some Cuban Papas Rellenas with the leftover mashed potatoes and ground beef that I didn't use. SOOOOOOOO GOOOOOD! For those of you who don't know what that is, it literally means fried potato balls. You brown the beef, add seasoning, onion, and red and green bell peppers. You make a little ball out of the mashed potatoes, stuff it with the beef mixture, roll it in egg, coat it in bread crumbs, and then fry it in a small pot of oil (vegetable or I use peanut cause it's healthier). You just don't know... :mrgreen:

What a nice day today for Kismet. I see green yesterday too. Very cool!

Now that sounds really good: Cuban Papas Rellenas! I'm going to have to try that. TUM! Your dinner party for your friend sounds great - nothing like good basic food. :-D b I loved Kismet's Breffi Tips - that was fun, and so very cat. :cool:

I believe those Cuban Papas Rellenas are going to make an appearance in my home in the near future -- what a great way to use leftovers.YUM.

Michelle, thanks for dropping by! They are really good! Kismet says he'd like to cook for Mannie for a change. Kismet recommends Vaca Frita, arroz con frijoles negros, y plantanos... (shredded steak sauteed with onion, black beans and rice, and fried plantains) yum yum! A nice cafe con leche (Cuban latte) or cortadito (Cuban espresso) and choice of dulce de leche (caramel milk cake) or flan to follow.

Josie, they are so easy to make and so delicious! The meat mixture is called picadillo (you can find different recipes online). Let me know if you try them!

Hi Courtney.....what a beautiful blue day for Kismet. I know we all love green, but blue is so nice a healthy too. :-D

Yum at the potato balls. I saw a recipe recently for potato and cheese balls that sounded yummy. These sound like a great way to use the leftover meatloaf in the freezer. Mmmmmm!

Apparently, Kismet had a few too many Cuban Papas Rellenas last night! :-D Maybe that is why he won't drop down into the greens! ;-) Or, it's the curse of the stinky fur shot. Food sounds yummy! Hope you guys are having a great day. Shasta says thanks for stopping by her condo today.

There are all kinds of sized of drops :) I guess a fat drop was what I was trying to mention to you when you asked the other day and I said you could try 1 and 1/2 drops. The measurement of the 0.1 unit on the syringe depends upon what type of syringe you are using. Just try to be consistant when you measure the dose. Are you thinking of fattening that drop?

You can call your doses whatever you'd like to call them as long as they are consistent so if you are able to dose between .1u and one drop, and want to call it a fat drop, go for it! :-D :-D

I had a dose for Gracie that was in between 1u and f1u...I called it a chubby 1u or c1u.

Ahhh, Ok... I wasn't sure what you meant! I'm using Walgreens super thins II. It is so difficult to get the right dose, so what I do is fill it to .25 (the line of which is right at the very end of the syringe... there is no space between it and the needle) then depress it slowly until there is just one drop on the tip, suck it back in, and then shoot it. I don't have calipers, but I don't think they'd work with these syringes anyway. Maybe I should get different syringes?

I think I would like to try a fat or chubby drop tonight. Weekends are the best time for me to test, so if there was a good time to try... Thanks, Dyana and Marje, for answering!

Thanks for that link! The 1 drops look like what I've been giving him, though it was probably closer to 1/2 a drop this morning. I'm trying to be as consistent as possible, but it's so hard with these itty bitty doses. I am going to try a magnifying class tonight!

So the last few days, Kismet's left ear has been bleeding a lot whenever I poke it. It's not excessive, but enough that it's running down my hand and getting under my fingernails (no more than maybe 1/8 of tsp.) But a couple of times have been gushers, and I've had to put pressure on for 30 seconds to staunch. I've been mostly using his right ear to give his left ear a chance to heal. I use neosporin with pain relief after every test that I do. It doesn't seem to bother him at all, I am just worried. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I don't think I am hitting the vein? I am getting as close to the edge (usually on the edge) as possible. Should I be concerned? Is this normal?

No... which is why I am concerned. There is no scab/wound on the ear (that I can see or feel, anyway). I take it that this is unusual then? I am going to just use his right ear for the next couple of days to see if it just needs a rest. I normally alternate ears from test to test.
 
It happened to me if I hit the vein directly, but not if I didn't. Can you shine a flashlight" thru" his ear to see if there's any vein where you hadn't thought it might be? The other ear is a good idea too.

I checked with a flashlight earlier and nope, I don't think I am hitting the vein. I have in the past when I was a newbie. I prick on the edge of the ear where there are only capillaries.

I am going to stop testing for the night (looks like he wants to surf these mid blues anyway) and give him a rest until morning. Thanks, Carl. Goodnight!
 
Morning, Kismet sure is looking good and only one drop. Oh wow, I was reading your recipe for the Cuban Papas Rellenas and then seeing the pic, I am really hungry. You sound like a good cook. For a fur shot, those are some nice numbers even if they are nice mid blues.
