HAPPY FRIDAY!!

I think I had too many alarms set last night and too much on my mind. I was so sleepy, I took a nap at PM +6.5. The 1st alarm was to test Hershey at PM +8, just in case he was thinking of pulling shenanigans. No problem. The 2nd alarm was to give Doug his percocet. I thought I heard it, jumped up to dispense the med and saw I was more than an hour early. Back to sleep. Happened again, arrgghh! Back to sleep and - yepperz, again - GOOD GRIEF! This time it was only :15 early, so I went ahead and gave it to him. 3rd alarm was test/feed/shoot. No problem. Didn't really get back to sleep knowing the 4th alarm was to get up. I think I was worried I'd oversleep and Doug would be late to his post-op appointment. Thankfully, the rain/snow/rain predicted turned out to be mostly rain, with a little sleet and didn't cause any driving issues.

Anyhoo - all is well with Hershey; all P's in place. I haven't seen a lot of ripping and roaring, but I've been gone much of the day and busy the time I have been home. I took Doug to the mall to walk around, since it was too cold to walk outside. Got home/tested at +8.66, so don't know if I caught nadir or not. Either way, Hershey seems to be enjoying the .6u and I'm lovin' seeing these blues and greens!

Q: It seems as Hershey feels better, he starts to develop new/bad habits. The latest? Knocking over trashcans and strewing/chewing the trash. cat(2)_steam Any ideas on how to deter him? It started off with the kitchen trashcan. He'd stand on his hind legs, put his front feet on the upper edge and tip it over. Now, he more often knocks over Jessica's bathroom trashcan and plays. Can you say, "FRUSTRATED?!" Any ideas are appreciated!

Thanks for coming over; have a wonderful weekend!!

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

double sided sticky tape. I had a cat who insisted on hopping up on top of the fridge and the stove. So I took packaging tape, made a loop with the sticky side facing out, and put it on top along the edges. After one day, she stopped scaling the appliances. Just make where he's putting his paws sticky. Cats hate sticky.

We have to keep our cans in the cupboards under the sink, with those child-proof latches to keep pets from opening the cupboards. (Bathroom & kitchen). Rascals.

Hey, Lyresa - YES! What is sooo tasty about plastic?!?!?! Hershey thanks you for the kind words. :-D

Hey, Sienne - Our kitchen trashcan has a lid, but not the bathroom one. He doesn't mess with my bathroom trashcan, only Jessica's. Maybe her trash is better than mine? I guess I'll have to be on the look-out for a lidded bathroom can. Worth a try, but with Hershey, who knows??

Hey, Carl - Welcome back!!!! Double-sided sticky tape???? I don't know if it'll help with the trashcan dilemma or not, but it's worth a try. It could be an answer to our problem with Oreo getting on top of the microwave, though...I read somewhere about hanging cookie sheets off the edges of the counters so when they jump up, there will be lots of noise. I was hesitant to try it, for fear he'd hurt himself or have a heart attack or give one of us a heart attack with all of the noise. Apparently, Doug wasn't so hesitant. I came into the kitchen one morning to find several cookie sheets covering the counter all around the microwave...and, Oreo on top of the microwave once again. Guess Spiderman can get wherever he wants to be...

Hey, Josie - I wish we had a cabinet large enough to hold a trashcan. :YMSIGH: I wish I knew where he was coming up with these new bad habits. Not like there's a new kid at school to blame or anything.

You know those "pressure mats" that people put outside the front door on Halloween to scare the kids when they knock on the door? Find one small enough to fit on top of the microwave. And set a remote camera up to catch the fun. Then post it on Youtube. ;-)

We have to keep our kitchen trash in a cabinet, and use lidded cans in the bathrooms.

One thing about bathroom trash - beware of dental floss! We had to take our GA civvie, Mario, to the ER once many years ago, because he had swallowed a piece of dental floss he had pulled out of the bathroom trash. That was when I learned/realized we needed to have lids on the bathroom cans.

Oh, Carl! Pressure mats?! But, that would be a funny sight, definitely a video moment!

Hey, Amy - Dental floss! I hadn't even thought about that. Jessica uses the swords, but I use the loose floss, so I'll be extra careful. Thanks!!
