Good Morning LL! Yesterday was not a good day. Muffin was obviously not feeling well during the afternoon. Then I fell asleep early last night before I could even get a before bed test. I woke up at 330am, tho, and tested then and was thrilled to see a 79. I had thought things were back to normal, and that yesterday just must have been due to the hash browns. However, this morning she was 262. She is feeling better than yesterday, has eaten 2 breffis's and is not hiding. But I'm worried she may having another CP flare already. Either that, or there's some kind of bug or something being passed around my cats. First Shnookie had the possible GI upset thing, then Cleetus, and now within days Muffin isn't feeling well. I'll watch her thru this afternoon, and if things aren't looking better, if numbers aren't coming down, I'll schedule her an appt for tomorrow for BW.

I'm still waiting to hear from the fill-in Dr on Cleetus' labs. DS said he was drooling again last night, but this morning he seems much much drier. He didn't eat much breffis, but none of them did - it seems going outside took priority today. They have all come back in and finished breffis now tho. And Marje - the carafate is being used simply as a stomach coating - in case the drooling is from nausea or some kind of irritation.

Re: 2/20 Muffin amps 262 +3 174 Cleetus' Labs

+3 174 That's a good start. She's laying by her heater.

Vet called with Cleetus' labs. Most things look great. He has a few slightly elevated electrolytes. Calcium and sodium were a little high, which she said not to worry about. Lipase and one other thing (I forget) are slightly high, indicating a possibility of pancreatitis. :YMSIGH: She said we can run a specfPL, but as this BW didn't go to IDEXX, he'd have to go in and give more blood. So I am opting NOT to do that at this time. He has started drooling just a tiny bit, but he is eating, playing, and as usual is the first one to use a clean LB (I just cleaned them all). She also suggested feeding him something bland and easy to digest to let the pancreas rest, so for the next few days I'll feed him Muffin's Wellness Chicken, which is not whatever rx food she suggested, but we all know is lower carb. Not that he eats high carb, but they do get up to MC fuds. If the drooling gets out of control again, she said I could come pick up another injection of atropine to give him at home, but I'm thinking if that happens, I'll probably go ahead and run the specfPL. I have bupe here, too, I can give if he seems to need some.

That does seem like quite a string of sick kitties. Vines for Cleetus and Muffin to get back to normal.

Oh, your poor sweeties. I'm sending healing vines to Muffin & Cleetus.
I hope you're feeling better, Anne!

Hi Anne

You're not having an easy time of it. Get well wishes all around

Re: 2/20 Muffin amps 262 +3 174 Cleetus' Labs

Just an FYI, the lipase values are not reliable indicators of pancreatitis in cats. They are more reliable in dogs -- in cats, not so much.

Re: 2/20 Muffin amps 262 +3 174 Cleetus' Labs

Hi guys,
I hope that whatever it is has run its course and that your gang will be feeling much better tomorrow. We are keeping those healing vines coming. Could Cleetus have a loose tooth?

Hoping that you have a good, restful evening,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 2/20 Muffin pmps 134 Cleetus' Labs

Pmps 134. I made an appt for Muffin first thing in the morning for a specfPL. I'll hold off on her breffis until we get home and that will be a 10-12 hr fast. She seems to be feeling ok today, but these numbers just aren't right.

Thank you all for the prayers and vines for both her and Cleetus. I did pick up the atropine injection for him, as he was really drooling again by this afternoon. He didn't seem too excited about the Wellness Chicken, so I went ahead and bought 2 cans of the Hills I/D that the Dr suggested, hoping he would eat that. He did have a few bites, but was possibly even less thrilled about that. Oscar found it acceptable, tho.

Sienne - Thank you for that info regarding the lipase values. I was crushed to hear I may have yet another cat with pancreatic issues. If the drooling continues, tho, I'm not sure what my next course of action should be. I can't just keep injecting him.

Re: 2/20 Muffin pmps 134 Cleetus' Labs

(((Anne))). Sending healing vines to your house!

I'm glad Sienne told you about the lipase not being an effective indicator of p'titis in cats.

I hope they can figure out the drooling. Meantime....lots of prayers for you all.
