...and today we bounce.

Beans are SO exhausted. Civvies Frankie and Zen still refuse to let us sleep at night, so today we are finally "cat proofing" the bedroom and letting them have free run to see if that helps. We've always kept them out of the bedroom, because they outnumber us so greatly that we figured it would hard to sleep. But, it really cannot get any worse than what we're dealing with now, so we have to give it a try. Zen has been sleeping with us for several weeks now, but every time we roll over, he wakes up and asks for about 20 minutes of attention before he'll settle back down. Once he settles, Frankie starts rattling the door. I love them to pieces, but the interrupted sleep/sleep deprivation is taking a serious physical and mental toll on both beans. They're both almost 10 years old, but this has really just been a recent issue...maybe the last 1.5 years. We need some serious "calm kitties during the night so beans can sleep" vines!!

Have a great day, LL!

Good luck with the kitty proofing. When we first got Turnup, DH said absolutely no animals in bed with us.   We now have to jockey for position. You do need sleep. I hope it all works out and you finally get some. Have a great day Amy!!! ~O) ~O) ~O)

Morning Amy, oh my, I feel for you and DH with the kitties and no sleep. I have one kitty that plays a game of jump off the bed and then pick me up and give me a massage. on and on, too! You both work, too. I hope this new plan works. Trixie girl is looking a little flat. Have a nice day.

Hi Amy

Hopefully free run will let them settle down to some sort of arrangement
I know closed doors never worked here - entirely unacceptable to feline psychology, ours anyway.
Good Luck!

Had to smile at "because they outnumber us so greatly"

Well, I guess Trix decided to dip a toe in the lagoon today, but didn't feel like staying all that long. We'll see if this is a fuds spike or the start of another bounce.

It was quite a task, but the bedroom is "officially" cat proof. It was the one room where I didn't worry about where I tossed jewelry (for those of you who don't know, I own a bead store and make jewelry for a living, so I've got lots and lots of it...), or knick knacks. We'll see if the kitties agree with this arrangement, or decide that the beans are now not allowed to sleep at all! I'm hoping that once the novelty wears off, things will be calmer....only time will tell.

Hey Amy,
We can sympathize with your sleep-deprived nights. Stu was a door-pounder. He would pound if the door was open and pound if it was closed. He would find the most resonant door in the house and "work" it. He rattled the handles on the chest and raked the venetian blinds. We were sleep-deprived for years until we finally learned to sleep through it all. In contrast, Rusty snuggles down between us and sleeps soundly; he gets up a few times during the night to eat some of his nighttime food, but is so quiet getting back in the bed that we never even notice. ECID!

Good luck with the "cat proofing"!

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

That is funny about Stu and Rusty!   Good luck with your kitty proofing, Amy. Let yer beans sleep. Beans are different than kitties, they only sleep during the night.
