PurrFace is doing great this morning. He had me concerned last night. He threw up 5 minutes after his PM +2 shot and then just want to lay on the testing table and not be bothered. He felt unusually warm and wouldn't eat which is very odd for him. I sat up with him and planned on a vet visit today but around PM +3 he hopped up on the sofa with me and started head butting me. When I asked him if he was hungry he did hid "feed me" meow and went to the food station. He ate well and then back to the sofa by me purring and happy with a wet nose. This morning at the +6.75 (2:45 a.m. CST) test his number was a low yellow and at +9.75 he was blue and is still there. Something he ate disagreed with him but we can't determined what it was. I completed a wood project I was working on and brought that in the house yesterday late afternoon and you could detect a faint odor of the clear coat finish on it. It's in the kitchen area so maybe the odor was stronger to him and it bothered him. The odor was gone after 11 or 12 o'clock last night and that's when his numbers turned around. Anyway he is doing great and acting normal and not warm so we postponed the vet visit. Thank you to all that expressed your concerns and sent well wishes. This was a minor problem compared to all the other kitties that have problems and we wish them well and send them healing vines.

Thank you Marje and Helen for your visit. Have a great day.

Re: 2/14 PurrFace AMPS 180

Hi John, I didn't get to all the condos after we re-posted, so missed that PurrFace had been sick. I'm so glad he's feeling better now and back to himself with eating, etc. It does sound like it possibly could have been from the odor of the wood finish. That's a nice blue AMPS today, so he's liking the dosecrease. Have a wonderful day.

Re: 2/14 PurrFace AMPS 180 +2.5/326

PurrFace isn't feeling good again. This morning he was back to his old self. He usually eats at PS +2', +4 +6. He ate at PM but not at +2. We didn't think anything of it since he ate well at PM but at +4 he was still not eating. He was in the front room laying down; eyes open. DW brought him out to the sofa with her and he went to the opposite end. When I st down next to him he meowed and when I pet him he jumped off of the sofa and threw up. He doesn't feel unusually warm. Didn't do a +4 test since his +2 was pink and he will probably get stuck at the vets. Made a 3:45 p.m. (CST) vet appointment for him.

Back from the vet. He knew PurrFace wasn't himself when he came into the exam room and PuuFace was laying on the metal table with his chin on his paws and didn't move. He said everything appears to be good but that his bladder is small but felt a little soft. PF's temperature was 101 but the vet said he could have an infection without a fever. He gave him two shots. One was Baytril and the other was an AB but I forgot the name of it. I know it wasn't Convenia or any of the SR version drugs but one tat will last 24 hours. He also gave us some Clavamix drops to administer at 1.4ml BID until gone. He said to make sure he eats before giving it to him or he will vomit. The visit must have scared PF because as soon as he got home he ate about an ounce of food and went on the porch.

Our vet likes PF and knows him well and always fits him in whenever we need it. He remembers him he said because in all his years of practice he has never had a cat so cooperative and easy going.

He just came in from the porch asking for more food...good sign. Heidi even gave him a lick on the face instead of her usual smack with a paw.

Thank you all for your concern. I hope everyone is having a good day.

EDITED AMPS +7 and PMPS BG NUMBER TO 351. I mistakenly entered both as 357. No real difference but wanted the correct numbers here.

Get well vines for PF. I hope the ABs help and he doesn't have any problems with the Clavamox. Tarragon has a terrible time with that stuff. Happy valentines day!!

Re: 2/14 PurrFace PMPS 357

PF ate about 1oz of food at PM. I didn't give him the Clavamix drops because I don't know if the vet mixed it with water. The directions say to mix 14ml of water with the solution in the 15ml vial. The vial is barely half full so I don't think he did. I'll call in the morning to be sure.

Re: 2/14 PurrFace PMPS 357

I'm so sorry to hear he is not feeling well. I think you should ask your vet why he's giving him two A/Bs? Baytril is a strong a/b usually given to address urinary tract issues. Seems alot to add the clavamox on top of it. Clavamox is well known for causing nausea and inappetance.

I hope he feels better soon. Please keep us posted......an infection might be the source of those high numbers. Keep an eye on the ketones. And as the a/b kicks in, his insulin needs might drop.

Also...he needs some Fortiflora or acidophilus so the a/Bs don't kill all his good bacteria.
