Morning Lisa ~O) ~O) ~O)

How wonderful to read that Do Lou is starting to get better. :-D It has been a long haul hasn't it. It is what it has been like with Mannie too. I hope DL continues to improve.

enjoy your day today.

Re: 1/22 Do Lou amps 358+3 321

Morning Lisa, sending healing vines to Do Lou. Sounds like he is improving slowly. Once they start the tub faucet drinking, it may be hard for him to give it up. I hope though the new fountain will do the trick. Hope your Vet touches base with you today. Have a nice day,

Re: 1/22 Do Lou amps 358+3 321+5 361 A trak ??

I have the A trak for reference and am almost out of strips and noticed on ADW that the meter has changed does anyone here know if the strips still work with the old meter?? I do not want to waste 50.00 and have it not work for my old meter I did sent abbot this ? also but not sure how soon they answer emails.

I'd call Abbott. I'm not sure if the strips work or not.
Ok thank you I will do that have to say I am annoyed they would change everything since this meter cost so darn much I would never buy another one thats for sure but had used it off and on since we have it here :YMSIGH:

Re: 1/22 Do Lou amps 358+3 321+5 361 A trak ??

There are times when stinky pinky looks good, especially after a run of those numbers that cannot be named. grr_red

There was a discussion on LL several months back about the change in the Alpha Trak and whether the old strips would work with the new meter. It may be worth a search in LL for alpha trak and see what the discussion was. I do remember there being information on whether old strips would work or you had to order new ones. We had stopped using the Alpha Trak as a back up before this and had just sent some of our old strips to someone on LL still using the Alpha Trak and that's why I remember the discussion, just now who or what.

Great to see Do Lou improving! :thumbup We use the cypro from time to time for appy. Zener is on Ondansetron and Cerenia as maintenance meds for his IBD so we can give cypro whenever he needs a boost, without worrying about giving an appy stimulant when there is nausea. Zener goes in spurts, where we can go weeks without needing it and then his appy seems to wander away, especially in the AM cycle. It only takes a tiny sliver (~1/16 or less of a tablet) to get him going and this amount usually gets enough food in him without any unpleasant side-effects.

Re: 1/22 Do Lou amps 358+3 321+5 361 A trak ??

Hi Lisa, So glad to hear that Do Lou is doing much better. I remember that discussion of the A-trak and the new strips in the old meters. I did a brief search, however, and only came up with this post: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/...p=787627&hilit=Alpha+Trak,+new+strips#p787627
I agree that you should call Abbott, just to be certain.

Have a great day. Keep on coming down, D.L.!

Hugs,

Ella & Rusty

happy to hear do lou's feeling better!

yes, you can use the new alphatrak strips in an old AT meter. use Code 7.

i updated in the "New to the Group?" sticky awhile ago:

AlphaTRAK® meters and AlphaTRAK® 2 test strips
From American Diabetes Wholesale: If you choose not to upgrade, you can continue to use your original AlphaTRAK® meter with the new AlphaTRAK® 2 test strips; however, you must use CODE 7 for all species. Please note: when using the AlphaTRAK® 2 test strips with the original meter, test results for cats remain accurate. There is a 9.7% negative bias in dogs. This bias falls within the ISO standards of +/- 20% variance set by the FDA for glucose meters, and may not impact your veterinarian's treatment decisions. For the most accurate AlphaTRAK® test results, we recommend that you upgrade to the new AlphaTRAK® 2 meter.
