Good morning!

I'm curious about Ripley's rise in numbers, and may never figure it out...

Her amps this morning is the highest since beginning of Dec. I'm going to keep an eye on it, perhaps increase if numbers don't return to 'normal.' I don't have experience with fattening/skinnying doses yet, so I'd love some extra eyes... :?:

Also, I'm using the same vial of Lantus since diagnosis in Nov.; perhaps losing potency? Or maybe last night's shot was a partial (tho I didn't smell insulin).

Thank you!

Re: 1/22 Ripley AMPS 194 Dose adjustment?

Hi guys .. no dosing advice from me .. it could be the pen losing some of it's potency .. or it could just be ripley being a cat .. they do that from time to time :-D have a great day guys!

Re: 1/22 Ripley AMPS 194 Dose adjustment?

Haha, yes she is a cat, and she reminds me of that from time to time  .

I'm not worried or concerned, but I've been pretty lucky with her treatment so far (knock on wood). So if there's something I could do differently in terms of dosage... just want to keep her on a good (stable??) path.

Re: 1/22 Ripley AMPS 194 Dose adjustment?

Well there are plenty of people here who can help you out with dosing advice .. I'm sure they'll have their eyes on here soon!

Re: 1/22 Ripley AMPS 194 Dose adjustment?

Morning Josie! Ripley sure has a pretty SS! I don't know how sensitive she is to insulin, and I'm definitely not a dosing expert, but if it were Muffin, I'd say there's room to fatten the dose. I'm sure someone wiser than me will be along soon, tho. Have a great day!

Re: 1/22 Ripley AMPS 194 Dose adjustment?

Morning guys! If it were me I would try some fresh juice first since it has been over 2 months. I am sure you will get some dosing advice from others. Have a great day!

Re: 1/22 Ripley AMPS 194 Dose adjustment?

I wouldn't get too hung up on one number. There are so many variables that can influence a number: stress, scared kitty, scarfing something HC that was on the floor that you didn't see, pooping (for some cats, this will drop numbers), etc. I wouldn't worry about one or two numbers that seem out of whack. It's a concern if you start seeing trends.

Re: 1/22 Ripley AMPS 194 Dose adjustment?

Thank you for the reassurance.

I didn't know about the possible pooping/number correlation ~ something for me to keep in the back of my mind  .

I am so appreciative of the knowledge/insight/support here!

Best,
Josie

Re: 1/22 Ripley AMPS 194

Ripley's numbers look Very good to me and her SS is really great!! She is on a low dose, and is doing terrific~~ As Sienne said, it's just one number one day, and tomorrow might be even better!
I think you are doing a great job with your baby!!
And as for poo issues, well just about anything could cause it..Do I ever know that!!!
BTW the suggestion of a new juice was also a good idea~~some last long time, some not so long--
See where she goes tonite & tomorrow!!!
Enjoy your evening~~~~~~ Hugs from us!

Yowzers! 226!
Not used to seeing her in yellow.

Ripley has a vet visit tomorrow, the first one since November (shortly after FD diagnosis).
It’s just a check-up, plus some tests to see how her anemia and CKD are doing.

I’m curious about her weight (my scale’s broken) – she has filled out a little in the last couple of months, which is good considering she was practically skin and bones upon diagnosis; just don’t want her becoming overweight (which she has been before, in her younger years).

I’m also going to ask for a prescription for the lantus pens instead of the vial. I wonder if new insulin will make a difference in her numbers.

Oh, and she’s due for her rabies shot. Poor girl’s going to get poked and prodded tomorrow. I smell extra tuna flakes coming her way…

~Josie

PS: Roni, thanks for stopping by! Ripley and I really appreciate it!

Re: 1/22 Ripley PMPS 226, +2 183

So I just called around for Lantus pens price comparisons:
Target: 3-pack for $265
Costco: 5-pack for $252

Costco for the win! (Costco also had the least expensive Lantus vials, even cheaper than Walmart.)

Re: 1/22 Ripley PMPS 226, +2 183

Wow even for Costco, that seems expensive. Is that with a membership?

I always suspect the insulin when a kitty that has looked as great as Ripley starts throwing wonky numbers. If she seems to be feeling great, it could be the jooce but also smart to have her checked out.

Please keep us posted :-D

Re: 1/22 Ripley PMPS 226, +2 183

Hello, Marje!

I recently learned that you don't need to be a Costco member to use their pharmacy ~ their prescription meds are the same price for members/non-members.

I was hoping to find someplace that sells individual pens, but my search was unsuccessful  .
But 5 pens will definitely last a while!

I'm really hoping the odd numbers are from the vial ~ it's 2 1/2 mos old, but there was some shaking/rolling going on during the first week or so (as per my vet's advice  ), which may have shortened the vial's life.

Have a great evening!
