NOTE: Pumbaa's SS is no longer in reverse order. And I reserve the right to whine about loading and scrolling time. ;-)

Pumbaa, being Pumbaa, didn't come down gently from his 367 bounce yesterday. Nope, he took the express elevator down from 263 at PM +3 to 77 at PM +9.

But he has had an wonderful AM cycle so far today. And once again, I'm praying that he becomes a member of the "Don't Gang," as in "Cats bounce until they don't."

I haven't been testing him at +2 very often, because historically, on Levemir, Pumbaa tends to go up at +2, and frequently doesn't start dropping down until after +4. This morning, because of the change in his patterns, I decided to get a +2 and was surprised that he had dropped. I was concerned that he would continue to drop throughout the day, and saw this as the perfect time to give him a little bit higher carbed food (9%, instead of the normal 5% or 7%) to see if I would be able to steer him with slightly higher carbed food. He did go up from 83 to 129, but I'm still not convinced that a 2% difference in carbs was the cause. I will test this a few more times, when I have the opportunity, because I have never seen any indication that Pumbaa is carb sensitive.

I was happy last night that, even though my cell phone alarm failed to wake me at PM +7, Pumbaa chattering (talking to me) woke me up at PM +9. He was in his normal spot on the pillow next to me, and maybe that was his way to let me know I needed to test him and make sure he ate. He and Larry (civvie) still had food out, but I crumbled some Stella & Chewy's freeze dried raw nuggets on top and Pumbaa gobbled that down. Then he also ate some cooked chicken I fed him. I knew his belly was full, and was able to go back to bed for 2 hours without worrying about testing him again. Didn't get much sleep though, because Pumbaa was in chattering and playing mode at that time. *LOL*

I have to explain Pumbaa and his "chattering". He was abandoned at my then-vet's office at about 4 weeks old, from what they could tell. One of the vet techs took care of him and brought him into the office every day, until I adopted him about 1-1/2 weeks later. Pumbaa spent the first 8 months of his life only having me to communicate with, and then having Beck (drooler) mother him. Pumbaa didn't know how to "meow". Instead, he emulated my speech patterns and would regularly talk back to me. I would say, "Pumbaa, I love you," and he would respond, "mrowmrow, mrow mrow mrow". He actually got the syllables correct! My mom came to visit from Chicago and she would crack up athow Pumbaa would talk to me! Not just to the "I love you" phrase, but others as well. Anyway, when Pumbaa was 8 months old, I got Larry as a companion for him, and Larry eventually taught Pumbaa how to communicate in "cat". But sometimes, Pumbaa still humours his mom and chatters away with me, like he did in the early morning hours, and throughout the day today. :)

Up, down, no more bouncing all around?

What a great cycle. And I have another thought. Embrace the green.

The goal here is to be green all day and all night.

And I think I would hold this dose for at least 7 days (total) if this keeps up.

Chippendale's:

This time around, there is NO upping the dose until Pumbaa has gone 72 hours after the last bounce, to make sure the bounces have cleared and he has really, truly settled into the dose.

I admit that the greens still scares the patience pants off of me because of Pumbaa's tendancy to dive. nailbite_smile While I'd love Pumbaa to be green all day, I did have to test steering his numbers with the higher carbed (9%) food I picked up this weekend. I can't test 24/7 like you do, and really need to steer him if I can, to prevent his diving routine. Which should also prevent his bounces.

I will adore the steady greens if Pumbaa ever gets to that point, as Chip has. :)

PM +6 and Pumbaa is at 49. He was easy to catch for testing since he was on the feeding table snarfing down his food. I gave him a little more of the higher carbed Poultry Platter (9% carbs) since he still tends to drop later in the cycle.

I can't belive how good this is looking.

Technically Pumbaa has been regulated for almost 2 days.

At this point it is hold the dose indefinitely, or until that mandatory reduction.
