Could Tip still be in the bounce? Or should I take her back up to 6.75u?

Got the results on Christmas. She has irritable bowel and the current plan is to continue on the Flagyl, every other day. Then if that stops working, try an appetite stimulant on top of that as well as a possible food change. Is there anything else I should know? Like, what foods might make it worse for her? A friend of mine suggested possibly switching to a grain-free food for her. But I also wanted to get some info here on what else I can do at home.

I was actually feeling a little worse today, had a really bad headache as well as still aching with a very minor fever. Hopefully I'll get over this soon, upped how much vitamin C I've been taking so hopefully that, and more sleep, will be all I need to finally beat this thing.

Hi Cindy,

I'm glad you got a diagnosis on Christmas. Here is Dr. Pierson on IBD. Grain free sounds like the way to go. Other options I've heard are to go to some novel protein foods, such as venison, quail, duck, rabbit or something that she hasn't had before. Common foods that cause allergies are beef, fish, dairy, eggs. Try to find a food that has just a single protein in it, say only chicken, and try it for a couple of weeks. If that doesn't work, move onto another option.

Maybe Tip is giving you permission to get more sleep and get better today. Take care.

Many IBS cats do better on novel proteins or a raw food diet. Novel proteins generally include duck, venison, or kangaroo - basically any thing that the cat may not develop an allergy to. Fish and beef are among the most common foods cats are allergic to. Grain and gluten free are also important considerations. (Did the vet say irritable bowel or inflammatory bowel? IBS in cats is inflammatory bowel disease.)

I think Tip may be bouncing. I'd give this dose a little more time.

Same, now we know what it is so it can be solved and she can get on her way to feeling better. I imagine it doesn't feel pleasant. I'll read the site you gave me, thanks. I think most of the canned foods around here say they're one type, but often times have other things(Like a chicken pate, but read the back and it also has turkey). So I'll look out for food that only has one and get that soon as I can.

Hopefully, but I still don't like those pinks. Blech.

The vet said irritable bowel. But also explained that the beginning part of her intestines is inflamed and kind of oddly shaped. I didn't realize there was a difference. I didn't know they made kangaroo cat food. I've seen duck and venison though. Next chance I get, I'll pick one of those up. What're some cheapish grain free canned food I could switch to? And how do I know if a food is gluten-free?
