PurrFace didn't like the idea of me taking a day off to go fishing with my grandson so he called me home. My DW was here with him and doing the test. I'll update the SS in a few minutes. I think we fed him too much but DW (& me) wanted his numbers up since I wasn't home to help her. Next test in 10 minutes but won't fed him unless he has dropped real low. Are we doing the right things?

You did a great job!

We always say Feed The Forties, so if he stays in the 40s then continue to feed him little meals, and continue to test in 30 minutes, for now.

Thank you Dyana. Should we stay with the LC for now or go to the HC until he gets back into the 50s?

I wouldn't give HC, yet, unless you're not going to be around to monitor, or don't have supplies.
If you're prepared, then, I think you could feed some MC by mixing a bit of LC with a bit of HC, if you want.

We'll be here all day and night and have plenty of supplies. If his numbers are coming up I'll stay with the Tsp of LC but if they dropped I'll mix some MC up. Next test due in about 3 minutes. Thank you Dyana. Peek under your desk and tell J.D. Happy Birthday for us.

Mixed 1tsp of LC with a tiny bit of HC w/gravy to make MC as suggested and fed that at +3.5. Next test at +4.

Looking ahead to PMPS time..does the fact that he dropped below 50 mean he will get another .25U dose reduction or will it depend on the how he does the remainder of this cycle?

Tested @+5/39. Only gave 1.25 tsp HC. Will retest in 15 minutes (+5 plus 20). If at same # will give 2 tsp of HC if he dropped thinking of giving a little honey w/HC.

He's back up to 53 now. Hopefully with this 1 tsp LC feed he'll stay up there. I would really like to see him higher by PM shot time, I'll also have a dosing question at that time.

Thanks Dyana. DW is getting him to the test table now. Hopefully he will still be above the 50 range or higher. Since his last HC food was at +5 I won't count any 50> numbers toward the 2 we want above 50 w/o HC influence. I'll begin that count after the +6 test so it will be +6.5 & +7. I'm assuming that when he gets into the 70s we can test every hour correct?

Yes, since he is this late in the cycle, once his numbers are in the 70s you can switch to every hour testing.

Thanks Ann. I knew if I left him home with only my DW he was do something like this. He's happy his sticks are only every hour now. Insulin wise this reduction puts him back at his starting point with Lantus 40 days ago on Sep 25th. That seems pretty good to me. Thank you for popping in his condo. Have a great day.

HI Leslie. Yes he has resumed his mission! :lol: I told DW this morning when I left with my grandson to go fishing (he was 185@+6.75) that I had a feeling he was going to pull something. Fortunately the fishing wasn't that good anyway. Total of 8 people there and the only one that caught any flounder was my grandson, as usual.

I was excited to try the Yogurt on him and really thought he would like it but as usual PurrFace is unpredictable.

To bad they don't use Bydureon insulin on cats. My wife just got a 3 month supply and then her Dr. switched her to pills. Have no idea what to do with that now. I guess just throw it away.

Thanks Barb but I can't take all of the credit. Dyana helped me today and any decisions I made early on were based on the guidance I received from Dale on 10/28 and Marje on 10/31 whom we managed to keep up all night from his PMPS on 10/30. Plus help from Sienne, Carl, Leslie, Karen, Rhiannon, you and many others who saw what we were dealing with and stopped by the condo to offer assistance or much needed words of encouragement. I've said it often but we are so fortunate to have a forum like this to turn to when we need assistance. Thanks for popping in the condo Barb and have a great day.

My oh My PurrFace. You are keeping your beans extra busy these days. It is soooo exciting to see the response he is making to the insulin, and all the other changes you have made for his betterment! :-D Its really good that he is able to surf on LC and minimal MC/HC.

Bummer about the fishing trip. Congrats to DGS for catching one though. :thumbup

PurrFace decided he had teased us enough and moved into the blue. Maybe that means he's decided to let us get some rest tonight. We got some last night but judging from his performance today he took offense to it.

Thanks Karen. This is flounder season and the time of the year my 10 year old grandson lives for. He's a great fishing buddy. Ties his own tackle, catches the fish, puts in on the stringer, no bother for ole grandpa; if only he could drive. We'll get out again but this time we won't let PurrFace overhear us talking about it.

Marje you should feel proud especially after the other day that led to night when toward the end you almost had to drill a hole in my head and pour your instructions in with a funnel. I don't know what PurrFace has in mind, especially with these low numbers immediately after a dose reduction but I have a feeling it's nothing bad. I hope I'm right.
