Good Morning LL! Sorry for the last posting, but boy did I get sleep last night!  So far Muffin's doing perfectly. She's up here happily working on her breffis. I wasn't quite sure how to document the ambg, as it was 2 hrs later than normal, I-) but it was before she ate anything. I'm not going to test her at all this cycle, so I figure it doesn't really matter. Now that I have some time to breathe with regard to Muffin, I can get back to some of the other furballs and their needs.

Monday Cleetus and Oscar go in for their FELV boosters. The first time they were vaccinated, they were indoors only, and so didn't have that one. So three weeks ago, we added that one for them since they go outside now. The round of vaccinations this year really knocked them both out - they slept for a day and a half after. Shnookie, you may remember, was dx with a heart murmur 2 years ago, and early this year tested in the gray area for Hyper-T. I took him to UC Davis, where they said there was a definite murmur, and blood was leaving the heart at an accelerated rate, but they were unsure of whether it was due to hyper-T or something in the heart. So we put him on a low dose of methimazole, and three weeks after that vet said heart murmur sounded a little better. Anyway, we're coming up on the 6 month mark of treatment, so he'll need to go back (to the regular vet) to get that listened to again and run another T4 to see if we need to re-evaluate his methimazole dose. UCD had said if he still has murmur in 6-12 months they want to see him again.

A couple of weeks ago I had to take Rumpy (drooler) in because Oscar had stepped on his back and he let out a big yelp, then was walking a stiff and sore, then let out another yelp when he was laying down by himself. He has a history of yipping and jumping up when he's just laying there, but we always just thought he was being a baby about something, or that he farted and scared himself or something. But those are just little yips, and these were definitely saying pain. Dr thinks he may have some kind of degenerative disc something (even tho he's only 4) and that he's probably been having muscle spasms in his back all this time. Of course, I feel awful for not mentioning them in the past. He was put on Metacam and bed rest for a week. Then if it keeps recurring, he'll do xrays. During that exam, it was discovered that he also has a heart murmur now. He's always had a weird clicking sound when they listen to his heart, which they suspected was something to do with a valve slamming shut. But now there's a murmur as well, so they're thinking maybe some kind of degenerative valve thing he was born with. So I'm supposed to walk him every day, but only for 10 mins max. He has had two occasions since then where he's done the yip thing (one was while he was chasing his tail  ) so I'm supposed to wait another week before walking.

Kibby went to vet in July for his yearly exam and vaccines, and yep, you guessed it! Heart murmur. ohmygod_smile So he's (over)due to go back for a recheck on that. I'm to give him acepromazine (sedative) beforehand so we can see if it was just vet stress causing it. Shnookie takes acepromazine before every vet visit - he's extremely fractious there.

So that's what's coming up for me - everyone else was healthy. Muffin just knocked the monitor over because Shnookie came up and ate the rest of her breffis, so gotta go get her a refiil!

WOO HOO! DAY ! Muffin - you so totally rock!

Quite the household you have there. I hope all will be well with Rumpy. Have a good vetty visit Cleetus and Oscar!

Pmbg 82 This is definitely the Muffin I know so well. I was going to say "know and love" but I love her no matter what. cat_pet_icon

Thanks everyone for the well wishes and for visiting. I was sitting at the computer this afternoon, and Oscar came to rub on my face and ask for some lunch, and I smelled some strange smell on his head. I kept smelling it, trying to figure out what it was. Finally I took him downstairs and asked DS to smell him. He says "SKUNK!" :o ohmygod_smile So he obviously didn't actually get sprayed, because you can only smell it if you put your nose up to him. I assume he went somewhere a skunk had previously sprayed. I'm not going to bathe him, but I did call the vet to ask if he could get sick from licking himself. They said to watch for red irritated skin and/or eyes, and he has neither of those. Life is never dull with pets, is it?
