Re: 08/25 Furball, AMPS=227

Did you try using neosporin + pain relief after each test? We started that about a week ago and it seems to help. Charlie seems like she's in less pain and it recovers quicker. Something to consider if you haven't done so already. Good luck, furball! :smile:

Re: 08/25 Furball, AMPS=227

Poor Furball - I hope her ear infection clears up soon. Is she still on meds for that? It must be so tough on you to see her in such discomfort, ((Carla)). (Come stop by Karre's condo and vent if you like :mrgreen:)

Hugs,
Jane

Re: 08/25 Furball, AMPS=227

I do use neosporin with pain relief on Furball's ear each time I prick her. This does seem to help, but there are times I still have to prick more than once to get a good blood drop and then her ear doesn't look so good. That has happened a few times this week. I hate that her ear looks so bad right now, but I really need to get these extra tests in since I just changed he dose. So far so good. Here are the results.

+3=219
+5=193
+6=172

I wasn't going to get two test in back to back hours, but I had a feeling her nadir had changed. It used to be at +5. It now seems to be +6. I wonder if I need to get a +7 to see if she's going up? I think I will try if her ear cooperates.

Her ear does seem to still be bothering her. I didn't get any ear drops from the vet. They gave her a two week shot, which should last until Monday. I am going to try cleaning her ear today and see if that helps. If it is still bothering her Monday, I am going to call the vet and ask for some drops.

Carla, sorry to hear Furball's ears are bothering her. Her numbers are looking good. Sending Furball some healing vines for her ears.

Re: 08/25 Furball, AMPS=227 Testing Question

Should I test again in an hour? I thought her nadir had moved, but wasn't sure. Her +7 was even lower (146) I don't know if this is an odd day or her nadir has moved that much. It used to be +5. Each hour keeps getting lower.

Re: 08/25 Furball, AMPS=227 Testing Question

Extra data can't hurt - spoken like a true testaholic :mrgreen: I'd get the (+7), even if "only" to put your mind at ease. You never know.

Re: 08/25 Furball, AMPS=227 Testing Question

I got test for +7 and +8. It looks like Furball has a new nadir. +7 is her lowest point. It used to be +5. Good thing I got those extra tests in.

+3=219
+5=193
+6=172
+7=146
+8=206

Re: 08/25 Furball, AMPS=227 Curve Update

Nadirs can move around. I wouldn't base a general statement regarding where the nadir may have moved to based on one cycle's results. The nadir isn't a fixed point. There may be a general trend but it shifts around. Gabby's nadir is typically at +3 or +4 but it's been as early as +2 or as late at +7 or +8.

Re: 08/25 Furball, AMPS=227 Curve Update

Sienne, thanks I didn't realize nadirs could move around so much. I guess Furball's is around +5 to +7 on most days. I will have to be careful not to just test at a certain time thinking that is her nadir.

Re: 08/25 Furball, AMPS=227 Curve Update

Furball was in a very loving mood this evening. I think she enjoyed the extra attention she got all day each time I tested her.

Curve results:

AMPS=227
+3=219
+5=193
+6=172
+7=146
+8=206
+11=247
PMPS=269
