I added fat to his dose last night. Maybe that's responsible for lower amps? He's staying flat so far. We all went BTB after Angels' 6:30 am shot. He's been outside, had a snack and is sleeping on the dining room table right now. Yes, that's allowed in this animal-centric house.

I was really perturbed this am when I got all ready to test and my accucheck aviva had a dead battery. Don't they give you any warning? Maybe they did and I didn't notice. Anyway, luckily I still had a Freestyle Lite and some strips for it. Hoping the lower amps wasn't result of just different meters variation. I will get a new battery today but will continue to monitor this cycle with the Freestyle so as not to mix apples and oranges. * BTW, I like the Accucheck MUCH better and remember now why I ditched the Freestyle in the first place : more expensive strips, larger blood requirement, shorter "get ready" time and the annoying blood collection spot on the side of the strip instead of the end.

I keep wondering about my insulin since it came from Canada back in Sept. Even though I've started new carts very frequently lately it's all still from the same shipment. I worry that if I keep working his dose up and then start on a brand new different batch it would suddenly be too much (if the old stuff was bad). So... tonight I'm going to break into a whole new box I got locally in Nov.

I didn't realize we had a choice with cats! I have a friend who is constantly fighting this...I told her the minute she leaves the cats are on the table laughing at her.

Hope the new cartridge from a new source does the magic for Angel!

Good morning. I bought some cartridges from Canada last summer, and it was okay.
I just started the pens for the first time on Friday (I've always tried to start a new cartridge on Fridays at PMPS, so I'll be around). The insulin in the pens seems to be thicker, and no as vacuum packed (I get a bubble every time).

I was so suprised when my One Touch Ultra Smart meter's battery ran out all of a sudden, and I opened the back and it takes 2 ordinary AAA batteries, that I have on hand. Just popped in the new batteries and I was good to go.

Have a good day, and good luck with the new cartridge.

Staying flat yellow ---- sometimes that a good sign of things to come next cycle? Dyana, my battery is a round flat disc like a nickel so I've got to go buy one. The thing about my Canadian insulin is that I'm alot further south so it took it longer and it was warmer here. They tried to deliver on a Friday afternoon when I wasn't home and for some reason I couldn't get to Post Office until Mon so it sat there all weekend after all the travel time. The ice bag was just water when I got it. I called the pharmacy and they pooh poohed my fears saying Lantus would need to be at room temp for a week or two before going bad. My shipment may have been OK those first few months but now I worry it's crossed some threshold. I'd rather switch on friday as well, but not sure I want to wait that long. We'll see where he is a pmps.

flat yellow is nice, I'll take it for now (it's just the 2nd cycle of this dose). Come on Angel, let's go somewhere today!

Re: 2/28 Angel's amps~227, +4~233

lynn, I think we got insulin from canada at the same time. We saw blues and greens with mocha, but not nearly what we are seeing now, and now we are using the lantus from the pharmacy in town. I think we have 2 carts left from canada. I hate the idea of her doing so good on this stuff from in town, only to have this run out, and go back to the stuff from canada. I don't know if that is whats causing these better numbers, but I think I mentioned my fears on here that the canadian insulin wasn't doing anything for her. I hope the same is true for angel, and you see action soon.

Well he didn't keep up the flat yellow. I started new cart tonight... one from local pharmacy;all the Canadian Lantus is gone now. Also got my Aviva back in working order with a new battery. Angel's outside stalking the night shadows and I'm heating up soup and starting a movie. Why is it almost Monday morning already?

lynn, I hope the new local cartridges do something good for you guys. Angel, now that you got to roam outside for awhile, come back inside and start some action!
