Trixie, what did you have for breffifs?
They do drive us crazy with their swings! Trixie will come down I predict. Good vetty vines for Mario. Hope his bp is okay and everything else, too. I know always so traumatic for them with the carrier and car ride to Vetty, too. Let us know.

Hi guys .. wow, that's quite a jump up for trixie .. fingers crossed she comes back down soon .. sending good vetty thoughts your way .. I also hate going to the vet, even for routine stuff .. always have a worry they'll find more stuff then should be looking for! have a great day guys!

Well, at least she's keeping it flat. It always takes her a while to settle into a dose change...patience pants are engaged!
Mario and I are back from the vet. His BP is still a wee bit high, but she doesn't think we need to adjust is meds just yet. He's at 175 (he was 180 last time). They like to see him at about 160 when he's in the office (white coat stress). He's never gone over 200, even without meds, which is interesting because I know I've seen people here post that most vets don't begin treating unless the kitty is over 200. Mario's highest, before he started meds (a year and a half ago) was 190. His thyroid results will be back tomorrow (he's also been on thyroid meds for a year and a half, too). He has a sebaceous cyst that is quite large, but because of his age (17.5) and health issues, he's not a good candidate for removal. She feels the cyst is stable, although because it's so large, the skin is pushed to the max, so I do have a topical ointment that I put on it from time to time. At least it seems to be stable for the moment...I wish we could remove it, but I think it's just too risky, plus I'm afraid to mess with him since he is currently doing so well.
Off to take care of some chores...woohoo, vet and chores - I just LOVE how I get to spend my days off!

That's a pretty good report on Mario. Now that the vet trip is over, you can concentrate on your chores. :smile: If the cyst doesn't bother Mario and is not pressing on something important, it probably is best to leave it alone. But I know that one has concerns anyway.
The day is only half over, so get out and do something for you.

Thanks for the visits! Hopefully we do have his thyroid meds right on the money, but he has needed periodic adjustments since we starte him on it. I wish we could run that test at home like BGs! The cyst actually doesn't seem to bother him too much, but it does get a little itchy at times. The ointment I have is an AB with an anti-itch/anti-inflammatory compononent to it. I think it looks worse than it is...the vet has said that, in the grand scheme, it's pretty minor. Overall, Mario is feelin' fine these days, despite having some of the typical chronic senior issues.

That's a good report from the vet for Mario, aging gracefully with dignity. I hope I do it as well! :razz: Paws crossed the patience pants don't itch too much while waiting for Trixie to settle in to the new dose. ;-)

Great vet report for Mario! At 17 1/2, he is doing pretty darn good. That has to be a relief. I hate hate hate vet visits as well. Hi Amy, checking in on Mario and you. Sounds like a good report considering everything. Sending vines for his cyst. I was interested in Mario's b/p, as Maggie's b/p has been on the high side, and there is the white coat syndrome. Hope you get all the chores done and then do something nice for Amy, too.
