Morning, LL...

Esse seems to have cleared her rebound awfully quickly...she was low blue last night at bedcheck, and is still in the blues this morning. I am quite tickled.

Yesterday, while picking up Malachi, I asked the vet if she wanted to know where Esse's numbers were, since I was testing...and she jokingly put her hands over her ears and said "lalalalala, I can't hear you!" After we stopped laughing, I told her Esse had been in the low 100s for a few days, and her eyes opened wide. And I told her that "if she experienced test stress, wouldn't her numbers be high?" and she nodded...so I think the door might be a bit open at this point.

This vet is good - she just doesn't understand that once testing becomes routine, it does not affect the numbers at all...I tested Esse last night in less than a minute, in front of two friends, while discussing the study topic...Esse didn't move, or even blink. I think what I'm going to do is video the test for my vet...that way, she can see how easy, calm and relaxed Esse is with the testing, and how it doesn't affect the numbers. Maybe that will help her understand.

And, I'm thinking how I could use the spreadsheets here to show her that the testing is not upsetting once it becomes routine...I don't quite know how to do that yet, but I will come up with a way. She's open to learning, she really is...I just have to get the info together for her to learn from...kwim?

As for Essemama, she's just hanging out and waiting for breffus...as she always does at this time of day.

If I want to test J.D. and he is sleeping on the bed, I can call him, and he will wake up, get off the bed and come to me, jump up on the couch, to be tested. This all without treats offered (sometimes, but not often). He also lets the 6 year old neighbor girl (whom he runs from if he can) help me test him. I poke, she dips the strip, and reads the number on the meter. Definitely send her the video of how easy it is to test! And have sound, to record any purring ;-)

I will have sound. Esse doesn't come when called - she has hearing loss, so if she could hear me calling, she would. So I go to whereever she is...and bring my supply box, no treats (I've never used treats...). But she honestly doesn't - and hasn't - protested. She doesn't purr either, but often will give me a lick when I show her the pokey-thing and the meter.

Right now, Esse is playing with Malachi while sitting on top of the carrier (Malachi is inside it...). They're playing "pat and duck"...Malachi has absolutely no idea that he had surgery yesterday...none. He was stoned out of his mind last night, but today he's all normal. All kitten, all boy, and all normal. LOL.

Can you believe Esse's numbers this week? I am quite impressed...I am going to do a 2 hour curve Saturday (it's supposed to be raining), to see what's going on with her numbers...I think she's probably dipping during the evening, and may even be dipping during the day...so we will get a curve done, and see what's happening.

YAY Essemama...this isn't a surf anymore, is it? This is responding to the insulin, this is treating her disease. YAYAYAY!

Oh YES, the sound of the purring....stress my foot! :lol: Who would really believe it thought, unless they saw it,right? I thought it would be awful when i first began trying to test my two. ! was amazed at how they accepted it and didn't flinch at all. Weird thing, isn't it?

That is so great Michele....and Esse had such a beautiful day today!! Yay!

I tell Moonie "Come on Test?? and she goes running to the cat napper as fast as she can run--It's really cute, plus she knows a treat will follow( I call the halos cookies) They know that word too! I need to boost her into the cat napper now, but she likes the boost so much-

Great numbers today!

Gizmo was oblivious to his neutering. The vet suggested to have him take it easy the day of. Right. He's a kitten. He was leaping on to the bookcase.

Yes, the vet told me to keep Mal quiet for the evening. I nodded, smiled, and then reminded her he's a kitten and in a 9-cat household, and Mal had not eaten in close to 24 hours. So...yeah. He was really hungry, so he was so all about the food last night, he literally stole a carne asada soft taco from my friend's plate (I made Carne Asada tacos...easy, fast, and NOT pizza....). And that was after he'd eaten his own dinner. He was all about the food last night. LOL.

As for the Esse, yes, I will be videoing the stuff this weekend. If I do the curve, I will make sure that I get a few of those on vid, so that she knows that Esse isn't just doing it "this once", and that her relaxation is just a matter of routine, and that it is not really any big deal. Just what do they teach them in vet school, anyway??

If she is like my cats, she'll be perfect every time, but when you get the camera out she'll stress or freak out or something. It would totally destroy her image if anyone outside the house found out that she lets you "torture" her so easily!

I would think so, but she had two "strangers" testing and shooting for 5 days at Christmas, and last night, we were smack-dab in a rowdy study session...so...maybe she will be good for the video, too? A Mom can hope...

On a totally different note, I had a bad coffee morning...I choked on my vitamins, and ended up spitting out (spewing, or pressure ejection may be a better word) the whole mouthful of coffee including the vits. LOL...I didn't realize it until just now, but I apparently nailed Oliver bang on the hind end...I just picked him up for some lovies, and he had these streaks of coffee dried onto his fanny. Bless his little heart...he's going to have trauma from this...LOL.
