Yesterday http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=72474 dipped her toe in the green lagoon, but didn't go very far in. As a result of that, and drinking way too many niptinis at the Strawberry Moon party last night, she is sky high this morning. Understandably, Neko is a little grumpy this morning. No play observed, but she has done a couple of yard patrols for exercise. The rest of the P's are in place and CPC as usual.

I am looking for more green and low blues in the picture, and we are in cycle 5 of this dose. Provided she gets over this bounce by tomorrow morning, I'm thinking of upping her again then. Does this sound like a good plan?

OT to Neko: I got a call yesterday from my friend's colleague who just had a cat diagnosed with diabetes a week ago. The vet has their cat on Caninsulin and dry DM. Sigh, we had a discussion about that and I've pointed them to FMDB and Dr. Lisa's page. They have lots of questions of course, and the most important one was what I thought about their vet's instructions to up the dose to 6 units from 4, without blood testing and knowing when the nadir is!!!!  The only information the vet was basing the decision on was the results of a urine strip test. And yes, I did express my opinion on that. On the positive side, they are interesting in blood testing so a home visit may be in order some time.

Re: 6/5 Neko AMPS Hi +3 456 +6 381 - dosecrease timing

No dosing advice from me, bhis will give you a bump up. I hope Neko comes down.

I saw you mentioned rowing in Maggie's condo. Do you row a dragon boat? I spent the fall of 2010 in Vancouver at UBC so I didn't get a chance to row. Too bad! It looks like a lot of fun.

IMHO, I'd let the bounce clear and see how low she goes before increasing. As the depot at this dose gets fuller, we would hope she gets more green. But if she clears and only comes down into blue, myou might consider a .25u increase.

When going up the dosing ladder and kitty is at high numbers, we raise every six cycles but once they start hitting green numbers, we tend to let it stretch out to 10-12 cycles and take advantage of the depot.

Re: 6/5 Neko AMPS Hi +3 456 +6 381

@Marje - Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. It was just a toe dip into green, but it could be more if her PS numbers settle. Paws crossed.

@Ann - I do rowing sculls. Sculling is work using both sides so better for me. There are dragon boats on the water when we row in the evening (+ kayaks, canoes, paddle boards), but I haven't been in one myself. The following is a completely OT picture of us in a regatta in Seattle last November. DH and I are wearing red caps in the back of the boat.

Neko seem to be perking up, she has been playing with the nanner and is on patrol outside again after her snack. I promised her a pokie break until PMPS - and her eyes told me I don't need to worry.

Keep it going, Neko. Maybe some yellow or blue? The rowing looks like such fun. Are you in the front of the boat or the back of the boat?

Re: 6/5 Neko PMPS 409

PMPS 409, not fabulous but I'll take it. I was glad to get that "Hi" off the subject header. Neko was being feisty after testing. We came out of the test room (ensuite has the best light), then she took a swipe at Theo who was waiting outside the door. Then she swiped at me as I went into the kitchen! I think that's a good thing. Haven't had a leg swipe from ages from her. Awfully grumpy before and after the shot though and she normally doesn't notice it.

The kitties are now getting kangaroo in their protein rotation for dinner (I rotate through 4 protein types). It's a leaner meat than lamb (what it's replacing) and I got a 10% off the last food order. I also got a special deal on some turkey through my friend who works at the raw pet food manufacturer. They had a store return some (frozen) product with a couple months older date than they wanted on their shelves, so I get it for cost. Sweet! It's vacuum packed and frozen so should be plenty good.

@Liz, I am hoping for some nicer colours tonight - a much better start than this morning so I think the bounce is fading away. I am the second from the left in the picture, yes, the one with the blades slightly out of sync! We row going backwards, so it's towards the back of the boat, the #3 position in this pic.

Re: 6/5 Neko PMPS 409

Hi Wendy - WOW: you race sculls - awesome. Love the photo, and in lake Union! how exciting - I know where that is!

Sorry for the amps this morning. We have had our share of those too. I hope the bounce clears soon.

Mannie says he is so proud of Neko and the nanner - it is his fav thing to do.

Re: 6/5 Neko PMPS 409 +2 354

+2 354, the bounce seems to be clearing and there might be a little more action tonight. Looks like we'll see yellow and possibly some blue.

@Michelle - yup, bounce seems to be fading. Neko is quite glad that Mannie introduced the concept of nanners into this house. We are more recreational rowers for the exercise and chance to get on the water. We race just occasionally and the one on Lake Union was just a way to see new places and extend the season as it was after our last practice of the year.
