I am no help on the B12 but a lot of them here give it. You might put "B12 Question" in your subject line so those that do will be drawn to your condo.

Jinx is looking much better! It will take some time to get to your magic dose, especially fighting against the prednisone, but you will get there. Patience is the biggest thing I have learned over the last 15 months and the fact that I didn't have much. :lol:

Thanks, Melissa. I was getting really impatient for awhile and I still do but it's getting better. I realize I don't have much of a choice in this. Like you said, it's just going to take time.

I have been thinking about trying to get him on the inhaler again and off the prednisolone. He never responded well to the inhaler but I lightly wrap him up in a blanket when I prick his ear so maybe that will work with the inhaler.

OK, Jinx it's time to get to work on those numbers.

I've never had to use B12 for Tess, but the type you want is methyl B12 (methylcobalamine). One brand makes a line specifically for cats, Life Link's Zobaline. When it is spelled w/ an X it is for humans, dosage and flavoring is different.

You want to use methyl B12 (methylcobalamin) if you are suspecting Jinx is experiencing diabetic neuropathy. There's now a form of it available specifically for diabetic cats - Zobaline. It doesn't contain any sugar. It's also available through Amazon.

It's looking like Jinx may need a dosecrease. I'd think about an increase to 2.0u tonight if that works for your schedule.

Good luck if you decide to try the inhaler again. The inhaler alone doesn't do the trick for Tarragon so we do both.

Well...we were hoping that ten cycles might have him settling in a bit more but doesn't look like it so I agree with Sienne that we ought to give him a little more nudge. If only he had come down a little more
yesterday!!!

Oh....and did anyone tell you our LL mantra? FD is a marathon not a sprint? :lol: :lol: :lol: I laugh but it's so true in many cases. Hopefully Jinx will prove us wrong once we get to his fitting dose.

Hello Joe and Jinx,

We use the methyl B12 Zobaline for our kitty Zener. We started last summer and it took several months, but his peripheral neuropathy improved and his walking got back to his usual cerebellar hypoplasia swagger. We've ordered the Zobaline from Amazon through Life Link and it comes promptly. We use a pill cutter and cut it up in small pieces that we put inside of the duck and pea pill pocket, which is FD friendly. I believe the feline one is off the market, but the dog one is essentially the same & cheaper. Good luck with the upcoming doscrease!

DC gets B12 for his Pancreatitis. I'm not sure if it would be the same type.
We use Cyanocobalamin. It is given under the skin the same as the insulin.

One thing I should mention is that b/c of his loose stools, I switched to Merrick's today which he threw up over virtually every carpeted area of the house. I gave him some tuna fish (which I know he handles well) and he's doing fine. I'll update the SS to reflect this. Going to Petsmart now to pick up another type of wet food.

Giving him some Wellness Chicken for the first time so hopefully his stomach agrees with that. Also added 1/4 tsp psyllium. First night on 2.0u so hoping for some good numbers in response to the dosecrease.
