Last Night:
323 PMPS
336 +3.5
295 +7.5
293 +11

J.D. slept with me for most of the night, but when I woke up he was sleeping beside the bed on the floor. He seems pretty good this morning, in that he was chasing thrown treats across the carpet. He has eaten Ginger's 1st Breffis  and is currently laying in his little kitty bed all snuggled up with Ginger.

Awww Ginger still wants to snuggle even though he ate her(?) breakfast, lovely Ginger

Re: 04/19 J.D. AMPS 288 - OT: Meter/Test Strip Question

I have not been having much luck lately in winning test strips from EBay for my OneTouch, for a decent price. I am down to my last 100 strips, and even though I LOVE my OneTouch, I think I am going to have to change to either the ReliOn or the Arkay meter and strips because I can not afford to pay retail for the OneTouch strips. Do any of you have information to share regarding which ReliOn meter is best and which Arkay meter is best? I'll probably go with the Arkay, if they are basically the same because of the cost difference. I have been thinking about this for awhile, and now that I'm down to my last 100 strips, I better get an order in, as 100 strips will probably only last me 10 or 12 days, I guess.
Does anyone remember how long it took for an order or the Arkay strips (and meter) to arrive?

Thanks for any information you may have.

Re: 04/19 J.D. AMPS 288 - OT: Meter/Test Strip Question

I don't have any comparisons on those particular meters, but as far as shipping goes, ADW is super fast. If I order early in the day, its not uncommon for it to go out late that same day or early the next morning. I can't say its ever taken more than 4 or 5 days to arrive, including if its over a weekend.
I betting if you put in the order now, you'd have it Monday or Tuesday.

ETA - I placed my last order at 1:12 Central on the 11th. It was at my house at 2:30 Central on the 13th. I just used standard shipping, not expedited.

Re: 04/19 J.D. AMPS 288 - OT: Meter/Test Strip Question

I use the Arkray Vital that I got from ADW. The strips are much cheaper than the relion (about $45 for 250 strips vs. about $70 for the ones that work with the Relion). I have them on auto-ship and that takes a certain % off the price, making it even lower. Plus, I don't have to remember to order them. When I first got it, I tested it against the Relion and they were very consistent with one another. You can order the meter with 100 strips for like $22 and then get the 250 strips at the same time, giveing you plenty of overlap for the next shipment.

Re: 04/19 J.D. AMPS 288 - OT: Meter/Test Strip Question

There aren't any Buy It Nows that are reasonable for the One Touch on eBay? I never bid for my Aviva, way to impatient for that  I just buy a Buy It Now and still pay less than half of Walmart's price and a third of everywhere else for my strips.

Re: 04/19 J.D. AMPS 288 - OT: Meter/Test Strip Question

I'm glad the J.D. is feeling better. Playing and chasing is always a good sign.

I don't know about comparison but i do know that the Arkray Glucocard 01 and 01 Mini are the same as the Relion Confirm and Mini. 0.3 microliter blood sample, auto coded. At ADW 5 boxes for $69.99. I think this is the type most relion users have.

The Arkray Vital is the same as the Relion Ultima. 0.5 microliter blood sample, auto coded. At ADW 5 boxes for $45.99. It takes a slightly larger blood drop, but the strips are much cheaper. I know Melissa and Tarragon use this one. I've gotten one but haven't tried it yet as i just got a case of Maxima strips. I'm thinking of switching because even from the mfg. they are getting harder to find.

Re: 04/19 J.D. AMPS 288 - OT: Meter/Test Strip Question

I've switched from the One Touch to the Relion Confirm, then from the Confirm to the Arkray Vital. I love the Vital. It takes a little more blood than the Relion, but I think I've only had one strip fail out of 500 (time for us to order!!!), and it is such a tremendous financial relief to not be going broke on test strips....you really can't beat the prices on ADW with the "buy 4 get one free" deals.

Thanks, I think I'll go with the Arkray Vital as I am used to the One Touch which does require the larger blood drop.

I'll PM Melissa first and ask her opinion and then make my order.

J.D. had a little outside time and then ate his 1st Dinner, 2nd Dinner, and 3rd Dinner all between PMPS and +2.
He did go back outside for a little more walking. He still seems to stumble sort of, or have extra vision problems.
He got all his meds and is currently laying in his little cat bed.

Does it matter that one is for "in vitro" and the other says for samples drawn from fingertips, forearms, and palms?

The Arkray GlucoCard Vital Sensor Blood Glucose Test Strips 50/bx are easy to handle, highly accurate and especially meant for in vitro diagnostic use.

The Arkray GlucoCard 01 Sensor Blood Glucose Test Strips 50/bx are intended for the quantitative measurement of glucose in fresh capillary whole blood samples drawn from the fingertips, forearm, upper arm or palm.

I have an Arkray meter that I really like & have bought strips on eBay for it for as little as 99 cents for a bottle of 50. I have even scored free shipping on these sometimes, but never paid more than $4.00 for shipping.

I have also found that sometimes if you spell s/thg wrong, like Akray instead of Arkray, you can really hit pay dirt!

I have not had any luck at all buying ReliOn strips on eBay.

I am so glad J.D. is feeling better.

I am still having computer problems so don't post much...lurk some tho...

I'm glad to see you Desi :-D
Do you have the Arkray Vital or the Arkray 01 meter.
I tried entering Arkray in EBay and don't think I got any matches. I would hate to think I was bidding against you :-D

Dyana,

It's an Arkray Glucocard 01. Don't worry about bidding against me, I'm bidding on another kind this week! I have such a vast collection of meters that I pretty much just bid on whatever I can get for .99 cents!

This was very interesting. I was going to recommend the ReliOn Confirm that I use, but I like hearing about the pice of the

the Vital. It takes a little more blood than the Relion, but I think I've only had one strip fail out of 500 (time for us to order!!!), and it is such a tremendous financial relief to not be going broke on test strips....you really can't beat the prices on ADW with the "buy 4
get one free.

So good to hear J.D. is feeling a little better.
