+3 was 40, which means a dose reduction for an established diabetic.

Only trouble is.... I don't think I can reduce any further than 0.05u ? I'd be fooling myself to think I could measure anything less than that in the syringe.

Is this where I start rubbing the bottle on him in the morning? :lol:

Have you tried to get even one little teeny tiny drop out? I sure would like to see green PSs.......some of his PSs are not even in the normal range although lately they are better :-D

Hey Marjorie.

Oh, I agree. I'm not looking to take Cini OTJ any sooner than he has to be. That's why I don't know what to do now. I think he still needs more time but... I just don't think I can be consistent with a dose less than 0.05u. It already seems like there's hardly anything in the syringe now and I really have to push hard on the plunger when I give the insulin to make sure what little bit is in there comes out.

For the longest time Kazi was on what was left in the needle itself. I would draw in my unit of insulin to work out any air bubbles and then push it out back to the baseline. Then I pushed out what was left and sucked half of that back in. :roll: That tiny bit of insulin was needed though...without it she popped back up into the 200s!

I is keep sayin dis is wat happened to my furs but mumbean keeps makin up lies bout me lettin the vet do it, even unda the sleepy meds I wud not allow any such ting it was ninjas I tells ya ninjas, a big pack of dem, 20 at least!

Good luck trying to reduce that .05!

I bought magnifier clip on lense for my glasses that helped me see small increments, if you can get it managed by the syringe.

Guess I'm wondering, though ... if you can't measure that small amount of insulin reliably and if you aren't ready to take him off of insulin, what about ever so slightly raising the carbs? That could make it easier to measure reliably. And that could be accomplished by adding teeny, tiny amounts (1/4 teaspoon or 1 gram if you've a digital food scale) of something merely 1 % or 2 % higher to the regular food. Or if you're using a feeder, putting it in a later mid-cycle feeding to keep the curve flatter.

Or whatever works for you and your cat best. Just an idea.
