Leroy's having the scope done to check for and remove those annoying polyp thingies. He wasn't terribly upset with no breakfast this morning. Then again, he's never been interested in breakfast unless I chase him down and put him the bathroom with the bowl  ADD

The scope won't be done until around 2 pm or so. Dr. B gets in around 1 pm but the scope is actually being done by another vet who has experience with doing the procedure. I guess they scheduled it so that Dr. B will be around to keep an eye on Leroy.

The front desk person was in love with Leroy :-D She used to have Abys herself. She said she got them from a local breeder but that person stopped breeding some time ago after the DH passed away.

Emma gets an entire quiet relaxing day to herself :-D No Leroy to annoy her

So I took some pictures of the different capacity insulin syringes and added in all the numbers so one can see what each line is. Would these be helpful for a newbie? In the past there have been newbies who misread the markings on the insulin syringe and often are giving their cats too much insulin (like 10 units instead of 1 unit  )

Re: 3-9 Leroy at vet today and a general FD idea

My only thought is that we typically tell people to get 3/10 syringes. I don't know if showing the other syringes would confuse people.

Hi guys .. keeping leroy in my thoughts today that the scope goes well!

Re: 3-9 Leroy at vet today and a general FD idea

Sending good vetty vines for Leroy. I'm sure all will go well! :YMHUG:

I know when newbies are shopping for syringes for the first time they can forget that 3/10cc. Seeing those pix would make it clear why we like the 3/10. perhaps put "Not Recommended" under the 1cc and 1/2cc pix.

Sending healing thoughts for a successful scope today for Leroy.

Great pictures. I like the idea of showing the 3/10 syringe and putting not recommended on the others. But, like I did at first, a newbie might buy the other type. Your pictures show the detail that I think is helpful for newbies. Thanks for your post!

No worries  I'm not posting the albums publicly for all of FDMB to see and possibly get confused. I just stuck them in my Google album to get feedback, that's all. If Rebecca is interested, she can use the 3/10 cc pic on this web site.

I imagine Leroy is getting a tour of the vet hospital before the scope  Everyone goes nuts for the uncommon breeds :-D

Re: 3-9 Leroy at vet today

No word on Leroy yet nailbite_smile I hope he's ready soon. I'm killing time at TBP right now because it's kind of pointless for to to spend an hour going home by bus and possibly getting a phone call and then have to double back which may be a PITA depending where I am on the bus route at the time :? It'll only take half an hour to get to the vet hopsital from work if traffic isn't too bad.

Update

They finished the scope on Leroy half an hour ago  Leroy will be ready around 6pm. So another hour for me to kill at work before I make my way there :?

So good news: No sign of any polyps :-D

Possibly not so good news: Vet did find lots of inflammed tissue  Samples were taken and sent to the lab and pathology for testing. There's no mass that is causing the inflammed tissuse and it's NOT the bad C thing (I specifically asked). Now to wait for the test results to come back to see what is causing the inflammation nailbite_smile

Leroy gets bupe for a few days to minimize the pain from the soreness of his throat. I hope the bupe mellows Leroy out

Will try to post an update tonight at home.

Home

Leroy's home and subdued. Can't say that I don't mind that for a change

So I talked with Dr. B. Dr. B said I had a strange cat  The scope didn't find any polyps in the nose but as it was being pulled out of the nasal area to look down the throat, a "cobble stone-like" area on the top back of the soft palate came into view. It is not normal to find somethng like that. It suggests some sort of inflammation. From what is anyone's guess right now. I asked Dr. B if the small bone fragments in the NV raw food could be irritating that area (Leroy occasionally scarfs his food down too fast and gags ohmygod_smile ). Dr. B didn't think so but it might be something to consider if other things have been ruled out.

Emma didn't seem too thrilled with Leroy's return  She was pretty hungry, though. Leroy ate a raw nugget as well. He's not terribly hungry but the anesthesia and other stuff probably wiped out his appetite. I hope he doesn't start screaming for food long after bedtime nailbite_smile

WELCOME HOME, LEROY!!!!!!!!!!

c'mon, Squeem...would you REALLY be as entertained and charmed by a "normal" kitty??

I'm so glad he's home. I wonder what the heck it could be. Glad he caught it and can look into it. Was he able to take a picture so he can share with other vets?

Give him a kiss from me.
