Geez these numbers just keep going higher and higher. Dose crease tonight buddy!

I slept in this morning, almost 45 minutes!!!! :o :o Leo was just sitting next to me purring and watching me. Poor kitty was hungry. I've noticed every week he's been putting on weight, a few oz here and there, it has to be related to why he needs more juice, kitty needs a diet!! I'd like to get a ketone test today as well just to make sure all is well there. He's drinking water at the moment :sad: I haven't seen him drink water in months.

We had a good test, shoot and feed this morning. I hope he decides to come down today.

Leo, come down for MamaBean!!! Trix has chubbed up a bit, too...she went from 7lbs at diagnosis ( a little underweight) to 11lbs at her check up a few weeks ago :shock: , and I'm wondering if that's why she needs more juice these days, too. I've been trying to cut her calories just a tad, but I'm not sure how successful I've been just yet.

Oh Leo, what are you doing way up there today? I bet if he reads his condo today, he may come down. Maybe too much celebrating at the parties with Maggie! Good luck with the dosecrease if it happens at the pm cycle. Have a nice day Tracy.

Morning! Leo, dude - seriously, pink? What are you doing on the pink floor.... I hope he comes down for you today. Right Leo? that is the plan, yes? Good luck with the new dose - maybe all Leo needs is a jump start.

Good luck too with the kitty diet. I've been trying forever to get Mannie to dump a pound or two... just never seems to happen. :roll: It seems that he doesn't see the point. :lol: He used to be a nice 10/11 pounder... now he's a 14 lb kitty - all since his FD DX. well - we keep trying. Hey Leo - maybe you and Mannie could start a Kitty Weight Watchers thing.

Well holy jumpy jack!!! You know when you hold the meter AND hold your breath cause you have no idea what to expect? That's exactly what just happened! I was so disappointed this morning I didn't reset my alarm for a +3 test and just caught up on sleep. Leo came in to wake me up. :mrgreen:

I am embarrassed to tell you guys that Leo now weighs 19 lbs. :o :o :o diet started today! Weight watchers? Yes please!! So far today he's eaten 3 oz and is starving already. It's going to be hard but I'm willing to try it out, I know dr Andrea scolds me every time I see her and tells me it's in Leo's best interest to lose some weight. She tells me Leo should weigh 15lbs.

Wow with the 83, Leo! That's quite a drop! I had to read twice.....and 19 lbs. omg...Leo must be a big boy though, right! I am afraid to weigh Maggie as I'm noticing how curvy. It looks like an exciting day up ahead for Leo!

I guess he came down for you today. Yay green! It's just winter weight right Leo? I wish all I gained was a few ounces this holiday season. I should have made the New Years workout resolution but I feel bad when I disappoint myself. :lol: Have a great night Tracy!

Wow, Leo. That was some nice +4 surprise for your mommy.

Is that Leo pictured in your avatar? because if it is, he doesn't look like he weighs 19 pounds. Good luck with the diet.

Haha yes that's Leo in the avatar. He's obviously got a skinny face and fat tummy!!! :lol: :lol: He's just a big boy all around if the vet thinks he should be 15 lbs.

The new diet is just about killing Leo. He's been camped out in front of his dish since about +9 or so. So far today he's eaten about 7 oz as compared to his usual free for all. I don't even know how many 3 oz cans he usually eats. I'd guess about 3 or 4 3 oz cans in a day. At his grandparents it's a whole different story. They try stuffing food down his throat all the time!!! :roll: :roll:

Nice catch!! Poor Leo on a New Year's diet???

Have you seen this on Dr. Lisa's website:

A safe rate of weight loss is 1 - 2% of their current body weight per week.

For example, if your cat weighs 20 pounds, he can safely lose up to ~6 ounces per week. (20 pounds X16 ounces/pound = 320 ounces. 2% of 320 = ~ 6 ounces.)

1% would be 3 ounces per week - or 3/4 pound/month.

This formula might help you figure out how many calories to let him have vs how many he's been having altho I find this formula to be quite liberal:
Required calories per day = [13.6 X optimal lean body weight in pounds] + 70

Good luck. You may want to have him start sleeping in a different room at night if he's mad at you about not feeding him :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
 
Good grief Marje! That would be 274 calories a day!!!! :shock: :shock: thats like 1 can of some foods according to J and B's list! I don't think I want to take it to that extreme, I was thinking more along the lines of trying 3-3 oz cans and seeing how he does on that for a week or 2. Maybe I'll ask tomorrow how many cans kitties normally eat. Thanks for the info Marje!
