Sigh, we are back in yucky yellow. I'm at a loss here. My dad is using a pen that I brought over and we used for the first time on Thursday night. I drew the first dose from the pen and it was all bubbles and barely any insulin. I know my dad has issues with using the pen and has a hard time with bubbles. So, I phoned in today for a new vial and my dad will pick it up this afternoon. I spoke to our vet tech Chrissy, about a new prescription, she's a really nice person. She asked how Leo was doing. I told her he was fine and he has nice numbers with me, with my parents not so much. She reminded me that kitties don't like change and stress. It kinda bummed me out because I know she's right. I'm seriously thinking about just handing over all control over to my dad, much as I hate to I think it I know Leo would do much better staying at just one place instead of traveling with me every week, and oh how he hates that 1 hour car ride every week. Another option would be me moving home temporarily for a few months, I've already toyed with the idea a bit. It would be great for Leo but for me, not so much, however I am willing to do anything for my baby. Ughhhhh what do I do?

I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas. I had a great day, started off by going snowmobiling all morning, we had emergency response team training in the afternoon which involved us watching the fire fighting movies backdraft and ladder 49. Wow! We were getting paid triple time on Christmas day to watch movies!!! then we finished off he night by having our fancy supper.....mmmmm I've never had such great food. We had lobster, pork, sushi, smoked salmon and so on and so on. I swear all I did was eat that day. Leo had a good day too, being chased and running away from allthe grandchildren at my parents. He had lots of turkey as well and modeled his skull and crossbones tshirt I got him for Christmas.

Sorry my post is so long but I just don't know what to do. What we are doing now isn't working.

Have a great day everyone!

It's a hard decision. I don't have advice other than go w/ your gut feeling. The traveling isn't att that could have stressed him, you mentioned "running away from allthe grandchildren"

Oh Tracy. I wish there was a definite answer. In the end, I know you will make the decision based on your heart. I know It is frustrating, especially since you travel so much. Hugs to you!

Re: 12/27 Leo AMPS 281, +3 252

I know you have a tough decision. I think one thing to consider is maybe NOT focusing on the numbers so much...how is Leo feeling? Is he happy and feeling good whether is numbers are a bit higher or lower? The numbers are only part of the picture. I know the ride back and forth is stressful for him, but being without you may be even more stressful. Rather than you actually moving home, is it possible for you to just move clsoer to your parents, so you wouldn't have to drive so far with Leo whenever you have to go to work?

Hugs to you....

Awwww well of course i will take a picture of him Sonia, i'll have to post it when i get home from work.

Of course Leo is feeling good, he's been drinking alot more water according to my parents, which is to be expected being in higher numbers. I feel so badly for my dad, he is 1000 more times frustrated than me, he wonders what he does wrong. I usually bring Leo back on Thursday night and my dad always says "well you're leaving, Leo is going back up to yellows and pinks". I don't know what to do, i wish there was an easy answer. My parents live on an acreage an hour away from where i live in the city. The closest little town is about 10 minutes away, and i've got 2 brothers that live in the little town, i've thought about moving there...but nothing is available unless i buy something, and i'm not sure i want to live there permenantly.

My parents told me that Leo is usually very quiet when i'm gone to work, they wonder why he's not as talkative when i'm not around, Leo is normally a HUGE talker. Before i left i gave Leo his usual hugs and smooches and i whispered to him that its ok for him to talk lots when i'm not around and that his grandparents like it when he talks to them. So everytime i talk to my mom or dad this week they tell me that he's been talking nonstop! My kitty cat_pet_icon listened to me!!!! :-D

Hi Tracy - wow... not an easy decision, but I think Leo has had good numbers before when he's there.I'm with Ann - it could be something else - like all those runny from all those gkids. I dunno... good luck with your decision. Maybe this time it as the pens... i hope the vial makes it easier for him.

your holiday sounds wonderful - wow. love the movie part, the food part was even better. :-D and the whispering in the ear story! AWESOME!

Re: 12/27 Leo AMPS 281, +3 252

What a hard decision to weigh on you. I agree with everyone, you will do the right thing based on what your heart tells you. I also strongly agree with Amy, the numbers are only part of the picture. From your reports when you are together, it sure sounds like he loves you and his time with you. If he could put his kitty thoughts into human words, what would he tell you? :YMHUG:

I don't know how the market is up there, but yet another thing to think about is that "buying" could be considered an "investment" - it's not necessarily a lifetime commitment. (eh, what can I say, I've got my parents' genes...it drove them NUTS when I rented  !)

How sweet of Leo to talk up a storm this week...what a good boy!!!

What a sweetie is Leo and we're sorry for your numbers problems, we understand the frustration oh so well! Perhaps you could run a little experiment of staying with your folks for a few weeks and see if it makes any difference in the numbers before making any sort of long-term change. Since he is drinking more, is it time to consider a dosecrease? We learned here that sometimes you have to go up to come down and the amount of insulin is not what's important, but how the kitty feels. We know whatever decision you make, you will have all the loving support of LL. :YMHUG:
