hi LL family,
we need your prayers....
i posted this in FB
Dh dropped off Rocket's pee sample.we are testing the protein in the urine...that said...yesterday I did two sets if bp readings and they were high...email vet w info ...she said results won't be in til tomorrow and she wants me to do more bp readings in the meantime...she said if readings are a little high and the pee has protein then Bebazepril will be Rx...if pee is ok and bp is high then Amlodipine(not sure spelling).....
I'm pretty scared of it all...especially the bp readings though he seems ok only tired...I think I may have found the source of what has made his behaviour change...prayers and healing vines for Rocket are much appreciated....

vet wants me to do more bp readings tonight.....i'm pretty scared and i'm not gonna lie to you...i think our time is getting shorter....i have a feeling....

Re: 12/12 Rocket AMPS 207-prayers needed

(((Claudia and Rocket)))): The amlodipine really works well for Gus. He has high bp due to renal issues and it brought it down nicely and I see no side effects. So keep the hope up. I'm assuming they are doing a protein/creat ratio for his urine. Gus usually has a little protein in his urine but his prot/creat tests have always been normal. I will pray for Rocket that his will also be normal and the amlodipine will work great for him.

Also sending many healing vines.

These are both well established medications with humans and work well. Rocket is very lucky to have you as his advocate. (((Claudia)))

Re: 12/12 Rocket AMPS 207-prayers needed

So here is a question then...
Last results on the pee were +1 for protein ...
So if his bp readings are high with the +1 protein, will it be better to get him on the Benazepril? Or do I get him on the Amlodipine instead and then this med will fix the protein in the pee as well or just the Benazepril?
I know i’m jumping to conclusions here and i need to wait for the results tomorrow on the pee...yes...protein/crea ratio is being measured....
I’m as always concerned....and with the many meds he is on i will have to make sure i don’t give it at the same time as the rest....
I did search on the list of meds and either drug above will have to be given to him in the wee hrs...so perhaps at 2.30 am....which it’s ok with me....
List of meds/vitamins/supplements: Phenobarbital, buprenex, prednisolone, insulin, ondansetron, pepcid ac, subq , aluminum hydroxide, dasuquin, B-Right, B12 shot (once a week).....
Anything i should be not giving him that may interfere with either the Benazepril or Amlodipine? Thoughts?
I’m sooo confused and yes...i do want to do what’s best for him....

sorry for the rushed questions and if they don't make sense...i'm at work and very limited to be on the internet

If he has high blood pressure, Tanya's site strongly recommends that Amlodipine is the drug of choice to bring that down. Benazepril will also lower BP, but perhaps not as effectively as Amlodipine. I would consider the Benazepril more for the proteinuria. It is possible to use the two meds together, but I doubt that you would want to start them together. Bear Man took both meds. The Benazepril, and probably the Amlodipine, should be given two hours apart from the phosphorus binder.

i rushed home at lunch from work....and he hadn't eaten a thing...so i brought over the food and he ate it all....i tried doing some bp readings and not sure they were accurate as he was inside his crate which is under the coffee table....each reading i adjusted the cuff to see if i was doing it wrong...

the readings though they were high they were not as high as yesterday....

PMPS 227

he ate his meal

i did another set of bp readings and i'm still not sure if the protein in the urine is causing the higher bp numbers or if indeed he does have hypertension....

i'm sending the info to the vet and she said the results from the pee would be back tomorrow

Linda,
thanks...i was reading that yesterday and i was trying to figure out when the med would be given...either one....cause they do interfere with his other meds...so whichever he ends up getting i will have to give it to him roughly at 2 am....

i wished it was tomorrow already.....i really want to know what is going on with him....
