I wish yesterday would of been blue .. she had such a nice streak going on .. at least we are seeing blue today!


Does anyone have any theories as to why her AMPS numbers are always so high?

when we go to bed, it's usually around 11 and she has 1 full 3oz can and 1 frozen 3oz puck. When she goes in the room, she immediately starts to eat the fresh can. I have a feeling that the fresh can is gone within a 1/2 hr to 45 minutes after being in the room. The frozen puck tends to thaw out around 2 a.m.. Not sure how long it takes her to eat that, but peter says he has seen it still in the bowl anywhere from 4-5 a.m. There is never any food in her bowl when we get up for the day around 7 a.m.

I don't know if she is eating it and then is left without food for a few hours and maybe stresses about that, since she gets mini meals through out the day? Maybe that is too much food for her for the night?

so we are back to a blue ps number which is great! This would have been six in a row, but yesterdays was yellow. I think from her new dose. We are going to try and feed her small amounts throughout the night tonight in hopes of a better amps!

Jill had suggested that I back off feeding Gabby late in the cycle. I do think Gabby is carb sensitive (she will bring up a 38 with MC food) and that may not be the case for Mocha.

One consideration with a rise in morning numbers is dawn phenomenon. There is a normal release of cortisol (a naturally occurring steroid hormone) in the morning that occurs as a means of getting ready for the challenges of the day. Cortisol, like any steroid, will raise BG.

Lucy kept her pink AMPS numbers for a long, long time, even after the rest of her spreadsheet was looking good. What matters is that now she is spending by far the majority of her day in great numbers. :smile:
 
ok, we are heading off to bed right now. While we love to see green, I was really hoping for a little bit of a higher number, so we could see if small LC meals throughout the night would help her numbers in the morning. But because she dropped around 50 points in one hour after eating some LC turkey and giblets and is still 3 or more hours away from her nadir at this point, we are giving her a small amount of MC and will re test soon.
