Last Night:
232 PMPS
111 +3.75
38 +6.75
48 +7.25
56 +8
147 +10.5
I woke up at +6.75 to use the restroom and J.D. woke up too, and rushed to his food bowl. I figured he was low. I eventually pulled him away from his food and tested him. His new dose is a s1.00. Which I didn't know was so hard to measure until I overslept this morning (kept having a dream with an ignored alarm clock sounding in the background  ) and tried barely awake or able to focus, and rushing because it was +12.5 and a half hour late for his shot. I think I got it.

J.D. ate his 1st Breffis without Miralax just fine. 2nd Breffis with Miralax was pretty much not eaten.
I'm getting tired of trying to add topping after topping to try to get him eat his food with Miralax in it. It's becoming a rare occurance when he'll just eat it all up. Normally, he either acts like he doesn't recognize it as food, or will sometimes take a lick/bite or two, and then go in search of Ginger's food ..or just walk away and not eat.

Question: Can Miralax be given orally via syringe, or hidden in a pill pocket somehow? Maybe I should try hiding it in cream cheese? I should try to taste the stuff myself. I don't know why he doesn't like it so much. I thought it was supposed to be tasteless.
Ginger is right now eating J.D.'s Miralaxed food. She doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

Re: 11/19 J.D. AMPS 239, +4 279 Miralax Question

I don't know about putting a powder in a pill pocket. Maybe smooshing it into cream cheese would work. For J.D., maybe putting a shrimp, cream cheese and miralax into the food processor and dishing it up that way would work.

Beautiful night for JD! Yay! I have no idea on the Miralax but just wanted to tell you to have a good day!

Re: 11/19 J.D. AMPS 239, +4 279 Miralax Question

Good morning,Dyana!
I'm giving Miralax to jake 2xday with Jake's watered food and he has no problem to eat - but...Jake would eat a paper with lil margarine on it!
I like Sienne's idea (shrimp, cream cheese and miralax in blender) .
Comon J.D. don't be so picky!
Have a nice day,Dyana!

Re: 11/19 J.D. AMPS 239, +4 279 Miralax Question

I know it's supposed to be tasteless, but it does have a crystal texture. Maybe you could try dissolving it in a little hot water first, then mix it in the food? It may be the texture, not the taste.

Re: 11/19 J.D. AMPS 239, +4 279 Miralax Question

Thanks.

And HI Bo! It's always a pleasure to have you visit our condo :-D

Ginger finished off all of J.D.'s 2nd Breffis of Miralaxed food, so I put down another helping to each cat (J.D.'s with more Miralax in it). They immediately switched bowls, so Ginger was eating the Miralaxed food and J.D. was eating Ginger's.
I quickly "slight of hand", switched the bowls under thier noses and chomping teeth. Ginger finished her's off and J.D. ate most of his, and then Ginger helped J.D. to clean his bowl clean. I hope I don't have to give Ginger a bottom bath when this day is through.

I have was adding lots of cold water, because you're supposed to add extra water. That didn't help. I've tried just a little bit of water, and he still refuses. When I work, I run water through the coffee maker for instant coffee in the morning.
I have thought about trying the hot water from the coffee pot, but have been afraid the hot water would compromise the Miralax. I wonder, if I wait awhile after adding the water, if it would desolve better.
I even tried pouring Heavy Whipping Cream in his watered down Miralaxed food.
I recently decided to only give the Miralax in the PM on my work days, because I just want him to eat in the mornings before I head off to work for the day.

I have to run off to do a bunch of errands, as this is my only day off. bbl.

Re: 11/19 J.D. AMPS 239, +4 279 Miralax Question

My label directions (generic version) say:

stir and dissolve in any 4 to 8 ounces of beverage (cold, hot or room temperature) then drink.

Obviously, that's for a larger dose than we use for cats, so the volume of water does not need to be that much. Hot water will not affect it, it's supposed to be dissolved. My DD uses it, and if you don't dissolve it, it has a crystal-like texture. She always stirs it a lot with cold water, or uses hot tea, so it dissolves completely. I don't think it will dissolve in cold liquid without stirring. I doubt that it matters whether or not it is dissolves for efficacy, but it isn't pleasant to drink when not dissolved....that's why I mention texture.

It's just another idea. It may not help, but thought it was worth mentioning.

Nice night for J.D. Interesting miralax discussion. I hope you Ginger doesn't suffer from her kindness in cleaning J.D.'s plate!

 Thanks, me too.
I just got back from some errands and cats are very anxious to get outside for a walk.

Thanks Laurie. I'm going to try your suggestions of desolving it better than I have been.

Re: 11/19 J.D. AMPS 239, +6 240, +7.5 168, +9 131, +10.5 131

That's pretty good for a late shot this morning and a dose reduction.

I put the Miralax in the bowl and then added hot tap water and waited for it all to disolve, this time. Then I added the FF.
It was kind of like his serving of FF was in the center of a bunch of water. He ate it all up, except for what Ginger ate (she ate her dinner faster, and hopped down to help J.D. finish up). I hope she doesn't get the runs!
After dinner is always walk time (yes, in the dark), so Ginger can't wait to go outside. She's down in the Litter Box, now, getting "ready". She always has to visit the "ladycat's room" before we go for a walk  and she takes fore evver..

Okay, business is done. Out we go.
