it will really help you know what he's doing in the pm cycle if you go ahead and get a test now. then test again right before the next shot.

i think with your schedule of midnight/noon shots, you'll want to catch one as soon as you get up in the morning. for whatever reason, cats often have lower pm cycles than daytime cycles - that's important data that you will need.

don't forget to adjust this morning for daylight savings time. if you shot at midnight last night, then 11am today will be 12 hours later.

Hi Julie,

I didn't see your post in time before I gave Cini his Noon injection. But I will try to get some post PMPS readings next time.

We don't observe Daylight Savings Time in Arizona so I shouldn't have to adjust his shot schedule.

I will definitely get a +2 reading at 2pm today (lesson learned from yesterday). :razz:

How is that for a reading?

It's not matching what the AMPS reading was (330) but it's close and not double digits like yesterday.

What that +2 told you is that Cini's numbers are dropping. It's a substantial drop from your AMPS. (The +2 should be close to your pre-shot in a "perfect" curve.) From your +4, you can see that the numbers were on their way down.

Hi Siene,

Yes, his +6 was 75. I gave him some Purina Salmon with Brown rice just now after taking that reading just to make sure he doesn't go any lower. I'll check his BG again in 15 mins (30 mins after the last BG).

very nice looking curve today. you don't actually have to give them anything at a 75 unless it's early in the cycle and you're trying to slow the cat down. but it also didn't hurt anything.

how much did you give him?

Of the food? I gave him the entire 3.5oz can but so far he's eaten about half.

usually if you're concerned a cat is going too low, 1 teaspoon of the gravy from a high carb can of cat food will pull them up very nicely. a non-diabetic cat ranges 45ish-120ish, so that range of numbers is actually really good for the cat. kinda depends on the cat and how carb sensitive s/he is.

Since his PMPS value was 235, I went ahead and gave .50 units of Lantus tonight instead of the full 1.0 units.
