After yesterday's marathon pokefest and carb stuffing contest, Zener is not at all interested in those 5% carbs - even mixed with the MC. And, he's not all that interested in fuds period, probably my fault with the carbs. Oh well....dancing two steps forward, then one step back. Maybe the bean should go to remedial liver training school (LTS)! Will take this bounce opportunity to give the poor guy's ears a break.

We woke up at 3 am (I had really just gotten to bed) to the sound of cat puke. I think I have an idea for a new alarm clock sound.... It was our civvie Tillie and it was a humongous hurl. I probably overfed her too, since she wanted something every time Zener got something to eat during the poke & stuff-athon. This morning she is feeling a little punk, though she managed to lick Liz's yogurt bowl. I gave her a 1/4 tablet of pepcid a/c since it does wonders for Zener and shortly after she ate a bit of freeze dried chicken in water. Woo hoo! :-D

Hope everyone is having a lovely autumn Caturday!

Re: 10/8 Zener AMPS 318;+2 346 ATrak

Sorry to hear about the pukus, but I TOTALLY agree on the new alarm clock sound. Nothing wakes me faster than the sound of a cat about to hurl. Hopefully everyone there settles into a nice day! Have a great weekend Anne, Liz, and furfamily!

Re: 10/8 Zener AMPS 318;+2 346 ATrak

Hi Anne and wow what a pokethon! Too bad with the rebound and carbs. I hope it wears off soon. I just read the end of yesterday's condo, and I'm so impressed with Liz and the 10K in those conditions. She is really going to be needing some hot chocolate or hot tea and then some. Have a wonderful Saturday.
Sorry about Tillie and the pukus. I bet it sure felt good going down for her with the carbs.

Okay Jac, let's get the patent on the cat hurl alarm clock  hope you and yours have a green weekend!

Re: 10/8 Zener AMPS 318;+2 346 ATrak

Very nice for Zener yesterday! Maybe we could all go to LTS in lieu of these bouncy kitties!

Sorry about the pukus! That's too funny that she wanted to eat when he did.

Hope you all have a great Saturday.

Zener and Liz are taking a much needed nap! Liz took a hot bath & had hot tea post race. ;-)
Zener is having a poke break this morning. Tillie ate a little freeze dried chicken & drank some water post Pepcid ac. All is calm at the moment! :-D

Re: 10/8 Zener AMPS 318;+2 346 ATrak

Gizmo is the same way -- if Gabby eats, he eats. FWIW, they get about 1/2 teaspoon of food if I'm steering the curve.

BTW, Gabby doesn't teach LTS. She needs to re-enroll in remedial LTS.

Re: 10/8 Zener AMPS 318;+2 346 ATrak

Thanks Sienne, I will get out the half teaspoon measuring spoon next time. I'm sure there will be another opportunity before too long. ;-) I've been using the measuring spoon when steering so I don't over estimate. It really helps. And we do not want another projectile pukus episode from Tillie!

@Marje - looks like we need to find another teacher for remedial LTS, since Gabby needs to enroll too! :-D if kitties have to go to school on Caturday is that like being in detention?

Yeah Zener.....blue looks very nice this afternoon.

Glad Tillie recovered from the food fest and is feeling better.

Re: 10/8 Zener PMPS 141 ATrak

We have a fairly low PMPS BG value for our shot, though we have shot a bit lower before. Paws crossed we do NOT have another PJ party tonight! ~O)

Zener is holding his weight for the 2nd week in a row at 12lbs 10oz. We are unable to consistently get enough calories in him, some days we make it and others we are just a bit shy. He has lost about about one lb since we started on the lantus four months ago and transitioned to the complete wet food diet. He seems to be at a good weight now. But we don't want him to lose more. Any suggestions for maintaining weight? I wish there was some sort of protein powder we could add to his diet, like weight lifters use!

We'll be on the lookout tonight for other PJ parties, in case we throw another one tonight! ;-)

Re: 10/8 Zener PMPS 141 ATrak

Hi Anne, that's low for Zener. I hope not another pj party. Hopefully a surf would be nice in the blues. Mags is 150 but on a drops dose. I hope you were able to get some rest today.

Re: 10/8 Zener PMPS 141 ATrak

Hi Ann, yes it is low for Zener. We have shot in the mid 130s before. We're prepared for action, and will get a +1 or 1.5 just in case. No nap for me today, so paws crossed I don't have to stay up again until 2 am! He's been at this 1.0u dose for over a week, so it may be about to work its magic. ;-)

Re: 10/8 Zener PMPS 141;+1 219 ATrak

Looks like it is a late nadir cycle for Zener. I sure am glad we have gotten braver shooting lower numbers! Thanks to all our support here in LL! :-D

PMPS 141, 28th cycle @ 1.00u, 0.4oz 11% + 0.3oz 5%, 3 mg Zobaline
+1 219, 0.6oz 8%

Zener had a very nice day despite his pink start. All 5Ps in place, including prowling the backyard. cat_pet_icon

Re: 10/8 Zener PMPS 141;+1 219 ATrak

Double take!!!! He broke that bounce fast. Hope you got those pjs and some hot chocolate ready!!

Re: 10/8 Zener PMPS 141;+1 219 ATrak

Hey guys! Looks like Zener has been keeping you busy! So glad he is back in business eating his 5%. It is so hard when they aren't food motivated. Tarragon could care less whether he eats or not half the time and he will never be a member of the CPC. We also have a hard time keeping weight on him. He is now up to 10 1/2 pounds. Woohoo! On dry he was at 14, then down to 7 at diagnosis.

Yay Liz on your race! DH and I run a 10k next Saturday. The most we have done are 5k races. However, it will be 75 here. Nothing like the conditions you had to deal with.

Thank you so much for the bday wishes. Hope you both have a wonderful night!!

No kidding! It looks almost like last night. He has come up at +1, so that's different. PJs, hot chocolate and black tea at the ready! :-D

He has been keeping us busy and we are glad about it! We got some good action at this dose at first, then went through a few bounces after some lovely runs of blues. We were considering a dosecrease when the last bounce cleared, then yesterday - action!

Zener was at 14 when he was first diagnosed and he was still eating a mix of wellness dry kibble. One of the mixes was low calorie, since he had weighed 15lbs before our vet put him on the "diet" kibble. And now, we read here all the time about what a terrible diet that is. We have a different vet now, though the vet we have wasn't all that concerned about a dry kibble diet either. Zener is rarely in the CPC and we celebrate when he is! We worry more about his eating than his BG values sometimes, and still hold our breath when we put his bowl in front of him!

Any words of wisdom on how you got Tarragon's weight up?

Liz did great! There were patches of snow and an icy trail in spots but it was a gorgeous sunny day and no wind. I stayed home and did morning testing duty, but turned out there wasn't much to do! Good luck to you and DH in your 10k next week. And remember, after the race, you can go eat whatever you want and lots of it!

Re: 10/8 Zener PMPS 141;+1 219;+3.5 146 ATrak

Amazing, his +3.5 is almost the same as his PMPS. I know in the sticky it says this is what you want to see, but Zener rarely does things according to plan. I am prepared for PJ party if necessary

PMPS 141, 28th cycle @ 1.00u, 0.4oz 11% + 0.3oz 5%, 3 mg Zobaline
+1 219, 0.6oz 8%
+1.5, urine negative for ketones
+2.5, 0.9oz 8% (this was food I put out at +1 and I forgot to pick it up. I was planning a +3 but he decided to clean his plate at +2.5 so waited an hour to test)
+3.5 146, ate gravy off his 8% carb mix

BIG EXCITEMENT in the backyard tonight. Zener and Tillie were asking to go out after dark. It's pretty cold so we thought they would be out long enough to do their business and come back in. Zener immediately dashed into the yard near the woodpile and jumped behind some stumps. I thought he was chasing a visiting kitty so I ran out in PJs and slippers. So Tillie comes at full speed to get into the fray. I yell at Liz to grab the flashlight so I can see what they are after. Liz sees Zener's black tail swishing around and thinks it's the skunk and is telling me to get away from the stumps. Then I hear "squeak, squeak"... I take the flashlight and shine it down between the stumps and there is Mr Mouse! An hour later, Zener is ready to come in and Tillie is still after Mr Mouse. We gather them inside and both sit down in their satisfied hunting poses. And, Mr Mouse lives to squeak another day.

After the big game hunt, all has been quiet this Caturday night. Zener is looking steady and suring the blues! :-D

+5.5 133, 0.65oz 11%

Zener's appetite isn't great today, and since he hadn't eaten much since +2.5, I switched over to full MC 11%. Hoping this will carry the surf while I get some sleep. I'll set the water alarm and check on him during the night. Ni ni LL. I-)

Hi Anne, I am glad that wasn't too late of a pj party, bit it would be really late for me. So funny with Zener and swishing of the tail and Tilly right there, too. I am glad the mouse escaped and if he's smart will find another hiding place. I hope you and Liz are catching some zzzz's.
