Prayers for healing for all our ailing kitties, but a special shout out to sweet Garland over in Health working to overcome a bout of DKA and fatty liver. May she soon be joining us here in Lantus Land!

After seeing a jump to 118 at +5 last night, I suspected we were headed upward, and here we are. Also had some liquipoo this morning, as someone came btb with a stinky butt and was quite offended that the bean dared to clean him up! Off he stalked with an "I iz NOT a baby." glare.

Rained here for about 5 minutes about a half an hour before shot time. Pretty par for the course these days! Sleepy bean is going bts before headed to tbp. The late nights are killing me this week, but have a case that involves a lot of intricate analysis, and i've ended up needing to do a lot of it outside my usual work hours. Suspect this may be the norm for awhile.

Going to try to get Willie's lab results this morning... of course I printed off a bunch of stuff for the vet and left it at work. At least I can take it to our visit tomorrow!

A huge thank you to everyone with thoughts on Willie's numbers, offers of articles, etc. tis what makes this place amazing.

Re: 8/12 Willie AMPS 190

Sorry about the liquipoo with Willie, and oh do they hate to have their butts wiped! It looks like several of our kitties are in the same stage with the kidney values and kidney insufficiency. You sound very busy with work, so I hope this weekend you can catch your breath. Did the DMV guy date ever happen, or did i miss it? Have a nice day.

Re: 8/12 Willie AMPS 190, +2.5~141

Hi guys .. sorry to hear about the liquipoo this morning .. and sorry for the bum intrusion willie :o But today's numbers sure are looking nice, steady blues! Have a great weekend!

Re: 8/12 Willie AMPS 190, +2.5~141

Thanks for the words of support. Most times I can keep the focus where it belongs: on Gus' happiness and the fact that he is rather healthy with all things considered. Other days, it gets to me. But I don't like to wallow so I think of all the beans who have lost their babies, and I snap myself out of it. Now is the time to enjoy him. There will be time for sadness later. Wow! I'm really a bummer ohmygod_smile But thanks for helping.

Re: 8/12 Willie AMPS 190, +2.5~141

Willie is coming down nicely, I hope whatever was bothering him is done with.

You are right on top of things w/ Willie and there is a lot more info out now. I wish I had known half of this 12 years ago w/ Cleo. Someone mentioned Dr. Hodgkins was rather dogmatic about PZI, but I think I read somewhere in Health that even she was coming around to Lantus.

I forgot to mention, ABE Books is w/ MrRebates, if you haven't already ordered. They're my fav book site.

Re: 8/12 Willie AMPS 190, +2.5~141

Sorry to hear about the little stinker. Hope Willie feels better. Hugs from me and June.

Re: 8/12 Willie PMPS 75

Beautiful PMPS for Willie. He's looking great.....I'm glad to see his numbers coming back down.

Lots to absorb with renal issues. I'm glad Amy sent you the felinecrf.org website. It has EVERYTHING you need to know but sometimes it helps to have someone who is living it answer questions. And I am as wary about vet advice on kidney issues as FD. My vet is awesome but she missed a few things with Max which have made me more vigilant with Teddi and Gus.

Please let me know how I can help.....there are some great food charts on the renal site that give you levels of phosphorus and sodium. Unfortunately, they don't give you carbs but you can cross compare. Also, Dr. Lisa made me a custom low phosphorus diet for Max. I know you are consulting her about it.

Hugs Christie.

Hi Guys,
Willie, you are lookin' good this evening. Nice that you got rid of the liquipoo before heading out to Australia on the moonbeam express! Be careful what you eat at the party tonight!!

Is Marje's reference to Tanya's CRF website? http://felinecrf.org/index.htm
It is chock full of information. I hope Willie's lab results will be encouraging and that you will get a chance to talk to the vet. In the meantime, enjoy the start of the weekend. I'm sure that you will be able to get all that extra work under control!

   on the Willie comment after his bath. That would be Mannie. Never fun, but omg - sometimes the boy needs some help in the clean-up dept.

Woe on work. I remember those nights. at least I hope it is an interesting case.

And good luck with Willie's labs... and the vetty appt.

Re: 8/12 Willie PMPS 75, +1~92

Geez, what is going on with all our kitties and their ailments?!!! Willie's numbers are looking good, though, so that's a plus!!

Thanks, everyone! I was late this morning and had to return a dvd to the library tonight, so i won't get lab results in hand until tomorrow. am hopeful that maybe just BUN is elevated b/c of high protein diet, and maybe phosphorus and urine spec grav will be okay? once i have results in hand, i'll be picking marjorie's brain (thanks soooo much for your offer of insights!!!) and i've looked into phosphorus binders.

Willie had a good amount of time outside tonight... the longest he's had in a long time! plus, his numbers are awesome! woo!!!

Mr. DMV contacted me today, and we ended up meeting tonight for drinks. He is really nice. And normal. And funny and just a good guy. I had a great time and hope to see him again soon! Told a fib and said I had to pick my sister from work b/c she was coming over for the weekend as my excuse in case the date went bad, which went perfect b/c when it went so well, i could claim that she was at home and I could pick her up whenever. :-D :-D I'm a thinker!!

hope everyone has a great night!

Willie....49??? Is that the way to keep your bean home???

Glad the date went so well and that he's a cool guy!!!! Another one soon??

Unless Willie's phosphorus is creeping up towards 5 or so, I wouldn't put him on a binder. It's important to know what he normally is and then see if he's going up. IMHO, the best binder to use is aluminum hydroxide powder. It's cheap, it's tasteless, and it's easy. One thing about the blood test for phosphorus....the range includes kittens and kittens have higher phosphorus levels than adults. It would be ok for a kitten to be at 8 but not an adult. The closer to 4 that one is able to keep a kitty with compromised kidneys, the better.

Thanks again for the info on cyclosporine. Between what you gave and what I found, it's pertinent only to oral and Gracie is on topical.

Willie Look at this cycle!!! That is beautiful!! Are you trying to keep your bean home & away from Mens?? --They will try anything to keep us home--When Mooonie sees us leaving & the auto feeder is out, she watches us & hides between the couches in her office!! Swear she is pouting!!
Glad you had a good time, Hope so so much that the tests came out good for Willie-
Have a good night--Hugs & Lubs from us!!

Christie, how nice everything went well with Mr. DMV, and you had a nice time. Good idea just meeting casually and having a getaway plan just in case it's not working out. And look how great Willie is doing tonight, or last night. Catch up later.
