little bugger's doing just fine, as usual. i slept in this morning because DH was going in to work early, so he just took care of punkin. when i came out i heard thunk #1 as anya jumped off the kitchen counter to the floor. just as i started to yell at her there was thunk #2 as punkin landed. bad kitties. but always good to see he's fit enough to make it up onto the kitchen counter - he would've had to jump straight from the floor to the counter. there was an open window there - that was what attracted them.

gotta call the vet this morning and get the insulin refilled. i phoned in to the pharmacy for a refill on monday and they still haven't gotten the vet ok. that happened the past 2 months and last month i asked for them to please put refills on it. would that be so hard?

Re: 8/5 punkin amps 274

I'm still fuming at my specialty vet clinic for refusing to just refill Willie's rx... I don't think we'd be seeing the numbers we are today if they had! So great that Punkin is jumping like a spritely young lad! And an open window is quite the irresistable temptation. You can hardly be mad at the kitters for wanting a bit of that!!

Re: 8/5 punkin amps 274 +3/157

hee hee i know! and he was so dang cute just now. shocking that i would think so, i know!

i fed the cats their second breakfast and anya was crying to get out of the laundry room (i have to protect her food from The Hoover). so i said "i'm coming anya" or something like that and punkin ran full speed ahead to me, as though i'd said "more food Hoover!" his tail was waving at full fluffy mast as he raced over! he's a hoot. i never get mad at him.

after all, the poor guy's got a brain tumor - if he wants to climb on the counter i guess he can climb on the counter! gotta keep these things in perspective!

He's looking very nice in blue today!!! Love the Punkin and Anya stories and it is great to hear that he feels so good that he jumps on the counter. I gave that battle up many cats ago    Luckily, ours only get on the side where they can jump on the barstools first so they stay off the counters where the stovetop is.

Hope you get the insulin refill....I don't get what it is about vets and just giving a lot of refills for something like this. It's not like you are asking for six refills on a narcotic

Re: 8/5 punkin amps 274 +3/157

yeah, i don't know why i try. i should give up but i can't quite do it. i was raised by a germ-phobe and you can't just shake that off! we have cat hair everywhere in our house - it's gross - and i love the cats. we remodeled our kitchen in december and there are new dk green granite countertops and we put in a black induction cooktop (so it's smooth.) ohmygosh when i turn on the light over the cooktop you can see every single hair! it's repulsive.

good thing i love the little fur ball so much!

the vet's office says they never got a fax requesting a refill on monday, but that they have had trouble with their fax machine. that's the same song i heard last month. last month they also assured me they'd put refills on it. the vet is out again, so they're having one of the other vets authorize it with 3 refills. when i pick up the insulin today i'll ask if it came through with refills. i like all the people at the vet's so i can't get too snarky with them! just want them to get it right.

Re: 8/5 punkin amps 274 +3/157

Glad Punkin is feeling agile - bet he loves the green granite as much as you guys do.

Did I tell you what we did for our kibble eater? Hef can't have kibble but Henry won't eat wet food. We bought an oversized four way locking cat door and installed it on the spare bedroom door. I have to put Henry in the spare room with his kibble, but the door allows only cats to go out of it, not in. Henry gets out on his own. No being locked in waiting on my multitask failing brain to let him out hours later. Henry is not a very bright kitty - he ran away from cat toys for the first month and a half, choosing to play with sunflower seeds instead. I think 13 months at the shelter made him semi-institutionalized  If he can get out of the cat room on his own, anyone can. You should look into it.

Re: 8/5 punkin amps 274 +3/157

Punkin has got you wrapped around his finger Julie! What a sweet sweet guy. I feel the same way about Tarragon. Nice +3 for Punkin today. Keep it up...err...down Punkin!!

My DH always says he would rather have to deal with cat hair than no cats. Just don't turn on the light in your kitchen. That is my solution!

BTW - I heard that the electric company started rolling blackouts in Broken Arrow yesterday (Tulsa today). They turn off the power to blocks for an hour at a time. Hope your cousin is doing ok. We are about 5 miles from BA in south Tulsa.

fresh insulin in the fridge - apparently it was the moon's fault. the pharmacy switched to a new computer system on monday and the vet's fax is unreliable - so we got the insulin and have moved on.

just fyi, we're running to california tomorrow after lunch to retrieve a secretary (furniture, not person) that belonged to my great aunt. it's in the bedroom of my dad's cousin's son who is 80 and his kids don't want it. it's a beautiful piece and sentimental value to me, so the husband and i borrowed a pick up truck to drive 1600 miles to keep it in the family. it's going to be a drive like mad for 12 hrs, sleep for a few, pick it up and drive like mad for 12 hours back home. our son will be shooting punkin while we're gone.

nice to have a young adult to rely on! we'll be home late sunday night.
