Good morning, LL!
Yesterday
Mr. Howell hardly touched his 1/2can from 2 a.m. until now (8 a.m.). I have been giving him a 1/4can FF at +3 and +6 but during the evening he seems to not need/barely eat the +6 fuds. Maybe he is too busy sleeping. :-D
Hope everyone has a great day!

Re: 8/3 Mr. Howell AMPS 180

Nice looking surf from last night. You might want to think about feeding before +6. There's less insulin available to counterbalance the food when you feed past nadir.

Re: 8/3 Mr. Howell AMPS 180

Thanks Sienne. I was originally doing a feeding at PS, +1 and +4, but by +10 he would be crying and crying for dinner. Lately he has been doing a better job of not scarfing everything at once; I think the novelty of the new food is finally wearing off after a week. ;)
I'll play around with his food schedule today -- he wasn't very excited for breakfast either, but it might be a hairball thing since he does get those massive ones occasionally and they seem to slow down his appetite.

Re: 8/3 Mr. Howell AMPS 180, +3 211

+1 207, +3 211... someone wants to stay in the low yellows today! Fine by me, you just chill out Mr. Howell. ;)

Re: 8/3 Mr. Howell AMPS 180, +3 211, +6 234

+6 234. Mr. Howell hasn't had much of an appetite today and his Nadir is higher than his PS number. He's still adjusting... you're doing good Mr. Howell!

PMPS 423. Mr. Howell has left his 1/4can snack at +3 today so I decided to give him 1/2can Turkey&Giblets for dinner and give him snacks for the next few hours if he is still hungry. Don't know why the huge spike but I'm ready to keep riding out these crazy cycles.

I just want to make sure you know...the nadir in a cat's cycle is not necessarily +6. It's actually whatever the lowest BG is in his cycle. And their nadirs will move around, sometimes week to week, sometimes day to day. Champ used to nadir consistently at +4 or +5, but then wouldn't nadir until +7 or so. It's really a guessing game sometimes!! Also, Champ used to cry for food every day right around +8 or so. I started giving him 0.5 oz of boiled chicken (raw shrimp is good too) because it's a carb free food and won't affect their BG values. Thank goodness I've weaned him away from snacking at that time because he kept gaining weight, but whenever he wants to eat in the morning and it's not yet time for his breakfast, I'll give him some chicken or shrimp...just not too much!!

+3 391.
Thanks, Patty... I am trying to see patterns emerge in his cycle but nothing is sticking out to me so far. I just hope he gets out of these high numbers soon. I haven't had a problem with him whining for food today because he hadn't had much of an appetite! Good idea on the chicken&shrimp.. Mr. Howell could use some treats every now and then!
