Rumor has it Rocket is showing slight improvement, which is such a relief to hear. What a great boy and wonderful bean looking after him!

Thought I would let you all know I am moved in at the new place, foster Tippie in tow. It was a slow move (boxes every day) and a lot of work in this hot weather, but well worth it in the end. A few hours of shuffling furniture once it arrived and *almost* everything has a place. I have less than a handful of boxes to unpack and maybe some rearranging or throwing MORE stuff out. Nothing urgent. I took a cue from TIppie (cats are so smart)....slow down lady! The more I slowed down, the more she started to relax in the place and well, come out from under the bed! I almost immediately felt a sense of relaxation and peace here. I think it was one of the best choices Ive made in a long time for myself. I especially like the 5 minute bike commute to my day job!

I did bring Latte's 'garden' with me. I dug it up and replanted it in a hanging pot. Im shocked that it has survived and prospered this week. I will add a photo at the end of this post . Though the photo's dont do it justice. It really does look nice, just different. Other than her garden Im having a difficult time unpacking any of her stuff and placing it on the shelves or dressers where they sat in the old place. Im not sure why this is??? It doesnt feel right to plaster the place with Latte's photos. So everything sits in a bin under the kitchen table until my heart decides what I should do. Her ashes are by my bed with a photo, and a picture with her memorial garden plaque in the kitchen (even that one seems out of place).

Tippie has an appt with the eye specialist (FINALLY), on September 9th. I cant remember how much I updated last time I posted. It is likely her eye will be removed, or at the least something done with her eyelid which is rubbing her cornea (???). Hopefully they will be able to figure out what is going on with her good eye. She does not deserve to go completely blind. She is the SWEETEST kitty. cat_pet_icon If I felt ready to keep a cat for their entire life I would swoop her up in a heartbeat (quarks and all).

Ella- you would LOVE this area. One block from the lake AND a creek which goes on for miles (maybe 20-30?). Very popular for paddling. You could just portage your canoe or kayak and hop in the water any time you like. Maybe I will have to look into getting one of those boats! ;-)

(refusing to sit on the new window perch...which she now will not move from! )

I am happy for you and Tippie. She looks peaceful, and it sounds like your new house is peaceful, and what a nice setting so close to a creek :-D You're a lucky cat!

J.D. had surgery when he was young on both eyelids to cut some of them off because they were rubbing his eyes. I don't remember what the condition was called, but he was about 2 when he had the procedure.

It's great to see you Carolynn. I'm glad everything is going well with you. The garden looks beautiful, and I'm glad it's thriving.

Enjoy your day! :-D :-D :-D Give Tippie some extra love from us :-D :-D :-D

How wonderful! It sounds like a great move! Have you considered a small cabinet for Latte's things? They would all be there when you wanted to look at them , but could be closed most of the time so as to not be quite so front and center all the time.

Where do you live? I think I remember Mpls.? If so what lake are you near? I used to live in a little pocket between Cedar Lake, Lake of the Isles and Lake Calhoun, all the bike paths and canoe opportunities were incredible. I still miss it.

What a great post to read .. I'm so glad things are settling in nicely for you and Tippie .. Latte's garden looks beautiful .. and it sounds like the perfect place to live with a creek so close .. who knows, get into paddling and Ella might have a new partner!

I hope that the surgery goes well for Tippie and I know that if she loses all sight she will still be the sweetest girl ever!

love Latte's mobile garden! sounds like this was a great move for you - although i felt a little bit of *something* when you said you only have a couple of boxes left to go. how is it that after 13 years in this house i still have boxes left in the garage? perhaps you could come and motivate me!

back from Sock Summit (although i don't knit, my quilting group went and stayed in one woman's condo while some went knitting) and i nearly finished the quilt top i was piecing for my youngest daughter. it was a bit of a pain in the neck, so i'm thrilled to have all the blocks done and the top in progress. i think i'll finish it today, just for the sake of getting it done. it's all in shades of creams and blues and the blocks are of a pieced star, then the corners meet in a pinwheel. maybe i'll post a picture later.

what a gorgeous garden, carolyn!

it occurred to me that when LL folks are relocating...we could all pitch in and make short work of the move...

thank god it didn't hit me until after you had done all the work!

i really identified with your comment about Latte's pics...
I have not been able to bring myself to put up any pics of Homie (GA) or Sean (GA)...
and it's been a year and a half...
maybe i'm not so good at my chosen profession, eh?

and julie...post quilt pics!

here ya go, celi. 3 rows are sewn together and the next one is just laid out so i get them in order. there are 2 more as well. but so i don't forget to do it later (hard to imagine) here it is now. it's not my fav, but my daughter picked the fabrics and design and she loves it, so that's what's important.

can you see the large star in the center of the blocks - mostly tan/creams - and the little light or dark blue pinwheel in the corners where the blocks are joined as the secondary design?

I iz back  It was hard saying away from the board but I needed the break.

Mr Ice cube hunter aka Leroy has found a new interest: taking off his safety collar @-) I'm not sure how he does it but I'm always finding it on the floor. Maybe the buckle doesn't hold tightly anymore :? Emma wears the same type of collar and hasn't pulled it off (yet). I put the old non-safety collar back on Leroy. He shouldn't be able to take that off. Leroy and red collar As annoying as finding the safety collar on the floor is, it also brings back memories. Squishy Merlin had a blue safety collar (one with the elastic stretchy part and regular buckle) years ago. He was always pulling it off. One day he lost it somewhere in the house. I bought him a new non-safety collar. Two weeks later, Squishy found it somewhere in the basement or attic and carried it back with him, looking proud at his find. Maybe Squishy somehow told Leroy how to pull off a collar ;-)

Emma got a late bridthday present today, a new cushion mat and toy  And of course right now she's lying on the floor next to the cushion  She's been lying in that corner a lot lately to catch the breeze from the open sliding door (with screen part closed of course) so I figured I'd get her a cushion to lie on.

Both had extreme zoomies late last night @-) For a good half hour (maybe longer but I eventually fell asleep after awhile  ) they were running all over the place and crashing into things and whacking the plastic shower curtain  I only hope the person downstairs wasn't home or was in a deep deep sleep and didn't hear anything nailbite_smile Then both whacked their toys around. I rolled over at one point and heard something rattle. It was one of their toys on the bed. Does anyone else wake up to find toys on the bed?

Carolyn:

Congrats on your new home. I hope you like it and continue to find peace there. Latte's garden is so beautiful. What a wonderful tribute to her.

I hope everything works out for Tippie's eye. What a lucky girl she is to have you for a foster mom.

Gizmo is always bringing toys into my bed. Usually, it's his springs. He'll also bring anything with feathers -- a wand, a couple of his "bird" type of toys -- into bed. I just never know what I'll find.

Your kittens have gotten big!!

Little Annie-Fannie buries everything she treasures under my pillow every night...

i choose to see it as her trusting me to keep it from the other cats

and Leroy...you are such a character!!!

That he is @-) Remember his litter box incident? And he almost did it again yesterday  I scooped the box clean and before I could put the lid back on, Leroy climbs inside to pee  So while he's digging, Emma comes over and sniffs the bag of clumps. The top of the bag falls over, Emma jumps and skitters away.... just as Leroy starts to pee. Leroy jumped and ran out of the box mid-stream  At least this time he didn't pee while running off  :?
