Re: 1/31 Latte AMPS-324

Morning Carolyn...how are you and Latte this morning? :YMHUG:

I was reading your condo yesterday and well, I won't pretend to know much about anything....but when you said you wanted
to maybe just stop thinking about the SS and just relaxing ...letting her enjoy her time with you without all the thinking.... well... maybe that is a good idea for now. You can always pick up on the studying the numbers and all the things you can do, but for today, since you don't have any new info, maybe just hang out if you can and BE together without thinking....

You have been doing SO much and trying SO many things...((Carolyn)) you are a good Mama and you would do anything to help her...maybe just hold her today...
maybe the right answer will come....maybe it won't, but for today just stop thinking....
(I do that all the time... Most of my days ore mindless wanderings...it's not so bad...people notice I guess but who cares....??? )

Meanwhile, here are the scoops about the Wolf fll_moon Party....we had such a great time...sorry you had to work  and we missed you. But,You should have seen our girls...WELL!! Latte and Raja were totally WILD with their peacock feathers
and all the dancing...and oh...they looked so pretty ! Totally WILD girls though....we have to watch them for sure! ;-)
All; the kitties were howling at the moon...it was like some sort of ancient ritual...really crazy... but they all had a good time....
I can't say anymore though...I was sworn to secrecy...

Hope Latte is feeling ok now...
(hey, did you say you saw Bob Dylan the other night?) :o

Low today +5-79

Not feeling up to par after big drop this a.m. Refusing ALL food for almost 12hrs now, meatloafing, licking lips, not resting well, and breathing issues.

Purring for chin skritches and head rubs.

Re: 1/31 Latte AMPS-324, PMPS-195

Carolyn...has she been drinking anything? what about tuna water...
I am not sure if she drinks that. She sounds like she is in pain now...I wish I knew what
to say. Oh Latte girl....please feel better... :YMHUG: We love you Latte!

Re: 1/31 Latte AMPS-324, PMPS-195

What do you think is going on? If Latte is having difficulty with big drops, would using a little MC help to slow the process down? Is it worth experimenting?

Re: 1/31 Latte AMPS-324, PMPS-195

Carolyn,
If Latte is not eating, is she drinking at all? The Tuna water worked for Shadoe when she was not eating and I had not yet taken her to vet and got her p-itis dx. What do you have on hand for nausea and pain for Latte?

I hope she comes around a bit with these problems.

Re: 1/31 Latte AMPS-324, PMPS-195

She is not looking fabulous, but She's looked worse.

It started after 4hrs of pacing, sniffing, eating, and drinking an enormous amount. She had a gagging episode, which then turned into what appeared to be the desire to vomit/throw up a hairball type sound. I was testing hourly. She dropped fast, but was not too low. 324 --->151, 120something, 87, then 79 by +5.

At +4 she peed, let out a painful meow a few minutes later (amy's winston heard it all the way at her house...tho I was on the phone with her). That is what she does right before she vomits sometimes (the loud meow)...then she went to her other litter box and sat in it for a minute. Since then she has pretty much been stationary on her throne, not really laying her head down - sleeping with it up. doesnt look to comfy. Got her up once or twice, but all she did is turn away from food, licking lips, and exploring how she might be able to eat some cat litter instead. Then it was right back to her throne.

Breathing has occassionally been fast, and noisy...purring sometimes seemed labored this a.m....better this pm, I think

She has not drank since about 11am. But she drank a lot and has had fluids. I will check her later for hydration.

All nausea meds on board except cerenia because she has not vomited yet.

Have not dived into pain meds yet. Dont take them lightly due to her sensitivity to all drugs. Discussion is in the works with both regular vet and specialist.

In the last hour she has had a few tsp of babyfood.

Could be a UTI...she has been hanging in extra high numbers a lot more lately, along with the pred supressing immune system. but I cant afford to just take her in. I will need to observe her a little longer and/or wait until she shows more signs (frequent trips to LB, dribble, etc). I know that sounds horrible, but there is nothing I can do if the money is not there.

Kidney values are on the rise, as is phosphorus...could be that.

Pancreas...maybe?

Your guesses are as good as mine.

If she is not eating in the next few hrs I will try syringe feeding. Im just concerned it will cause vomiting. Would rather just continue with attempting the babyfood.

whatever the cause, all these could be signs of pain  you know that, right?

I understand that. But pain killers are not to be taken lightly with her, AND we are limited in choice. It's like the decision to give pred...last resort, and be prepared for the ultimate adverse reaction. I have to be sure that is where we are. And as I mentioned, I am in the beginning phases of discussing with both her regular vet and specialist about the issue.

+2- 175 (downward on a pred cycle, hmmmm...)

Refusing bf now, but eating treats and drank a little juice from a wellness packet. Peed and is now laying in the hallway (thats good).

 Perfect!

about +3 she perked up, walking around...attempting to eat MORE litter. grr_red I seriously wonder if its related to a bad tummy and she thinks it will make her feel better?!?!

I took advantage of it and prepared some wet food, sprinkled with litter. j/k
she ate a few licks. She got onto my bed (requires some jumping) and held a conversation with me. She wanted more treats, for sure. As soon as I put it on the kibble she raced over to the bowl and ate a little. She ate more after +4.

If I didnt seem concerned enough, I apologize. After Three years of this, every now and then I can remain calm and keep things in perspective. I do get very concerned...but with her sometimes its just a matter of waiting it out a day. If its something new and/or lasts longer than a day I often go into panic mode.

I completely attribute her numbers (including delayed bounce soon to be seen) from lack of food. At least it is keeping in a better range, longer than usual.

It's good to hear that Latte is coming around even if a bit slowly today.
I hope she has a restful and uneventful nite.

could be any number of things, but i'd suggest the cerenia anyway. that way the vomiting reflex is taken care of and the other meds can work on antinausea.
with cleo nowadays it's taking the cerenia, ondansetron, famotadine, mirtz, and fluids to work on the nausea and vomiting. otherwise i've seen her lie on the litterbox too.
glad the numbers are good but definitely believe they'd be from inappetance.

have you given tuna in spring water (not catfood tuna) or deli meat? nothing with onion or garlic in it but lots of cats will go for that or original recipe KFC. babyfood mine will go for but sometimes i have to limit her to 3 licks and then half an hour before the next 3 licks (repeat til jar is empty) to get her interested in food again. sorta teases her into getting hungry again.
