I do believe I made a mistake last night!!! Champ's BG was 287 at +2 last night, only down 12 points from his PMPS, so I just didn't bother to test him anymore. He wakes me up this morning at 4 a.m. INSISTING he needs something to eat so I give him some raw chicken breast (which he loves!!). I went back to bed and got up at 6:30 to test, feed, shoot. His AMPS was 139!!!! Which tells me he probably went low last night!! I HATE it when this happens because now I have to guess what happened instead of knowing. Of course, the way his numbers have steadily gone up today tells me he probably did go low and he's bouncing off of them! Let this be a lesson to anyone out there, especially me, you must test at night no matter how high the numbers are, especially before you go to bed!!!

I'm going to try to be productive today and get some things done around the house...but I make no promises!!! :-D

Have a great Caturday, everyone!!!

Oh Patty, don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure that warm and cozy bed was just calling out to you!

btw, I just saw your picture and vid from the other day. Soooo cute!

Oh Patty......I always hate the not knowing and wondering....but Champ is OK and I hope he clears the bounce quickly. Champ is such a sweet boy!! After Zoe's beautiful day yesterday....I was so excited for the great numbers to continue....doing my evening and before bed checks....she decided she was done with blues and went UP all evening....talk about disappointing  But you are right - the before bed checks are so important.

just look at it as another opportunity to learn . . . you'll no doubt have another chance to do it differently! it is great that champ wakes you up when he gets low, though. that's a nice little bit of insurance.

Re: 6/25 Champ AMPS 136, +1 161, +2 185, +4.5 268, +8 395

Man, I am not liking his +8!!! I gave him some raw chicken for, for the first time, turned his nose up. I picked up a piece and smelled it and it had no smell at all...good for us humans, not so good for kitties who like stinky food! I nuked it for 15 seconds and it cooked it just enough to release its chicken smell. He inhaled it and wanted seconds. Tuff!

Patty: I feel certain we have all done what you did last night. In fact, I went to bed last night after +2 when Gracie was 283....not much difference between her +2 and Champ's. Of course, she was on her way up from the get go   I actually didn't want to SEE what +4 would be

It's a tough call to make. Unless Gracie is having a night like last night where she is climbing from PMPS (because she isn't usually a +2 food spike kitty unless she intends to keep rising), then we always stay up and get a test after +3 which is when she onsets, typically. So it goes back to "know thy cat" and then also realizing that even if you do, they might pull a fast one on you    On the upside...you probably got a lovely green surf from him without having to worry about it   Uh...until today

Re: 6/25 Champ AMPS 136, +4.5 268, +8 395, PMPS 331

I think I can work with this PMPS 331 better than his +8 395!! At least it doesn't worry me. Now, a nice slow slide into 2nd and then 1st would be fabulous!!

Re: 6/25 Champ AMPS 136, +4.5 268, +8 395, PMPS 331

Hi guys!

oh i know i have been in your shoes on the pm test thing - learned the same lesson... you just never know. I try to get at least through the +4, so I know what lies ahead, as best I can that is. Well - it worked out. On the good side - he woke you up - "Mom! I'm low and need food!" they always know. so - no worries, OK?

And I'm with you: pmps is sure better than that +8. I hope the bounce clears soon.

Have a great night guys!

Re: 6/25 Champ AMPS 136, +4.5 268, +8 395, PMPS 331

Glad to see Champ came down for his PMPS!

Yeah, we all have done what you did last night, no doubt. Like Julie said, it's a learning opportunity!

Is the B12 helping him yet? I hope he's feeling better!

Have a great night!!

Amy

Hey Patty- Yeah, I said "good night" how long ago  ? I just saw in Trixie's condo that you may eventually try cosequin for Champ. My senior, Mario, is on cosequin for his arthritis, and it helped him quite a bit, but his posture was still "wonky", for lack of a better term. Just over a week ago, we started him on adequan to help with his arthritis pain, and after just 3 doses (subQ shots), he is walking tall once again. It's amazing. This is just something for you to consider, if you start exploring the avenues of arthritis for Champ. Hopefully, though, the B12 will get him - and keep him - on the right track!
