hi all,
i pray daily for those of you who are having challenges with your kitties and for those who have said good bye to their companions....

Rocket's vet apt is at 2 pm today.....i'm getting nervous but i'm trying to be positive...

yesterday i was MIA all day...went to get a steroid injection in my right thumb (i think i mentioned to you guys the surgeon back in Dec told me no surgery but in the process i have to get those injections every 6 mons to help me with it....so yesterday was the day).....and believe me....i was in pain from it....i took lots of drugs and nothing helped....i managed to fall asleep after 1:30 am....only to be woken up at 2ish by Rocket....

it was strange that he did not wait until 4 am....i had told him i was leaving more food out in the hopes of me not getting up at that time to feed him....well....at 2ish....everything i had left out was GONE....so i had to give him more food....

this morning he has not touched the food that i would have left out all day had i been at work....so this sucks....

he is currently on the balcony enjoying the sun....

i can't feel my thumb and typing feels weird not using it....Dr said it would take a couple of days to settle...so testing and giving fluids and insulin and for that matter dressing myself....has been challenging!

please keep us in your prayers as we head out to the vet this afternoon....

Good luck at the Vet and sending some positive thoughts and prayers for Rocket.
Ouch on the steroid injection in the thumb. Hope it soon feels better and less pain!

it takes me so long to type when i don't have function of the thumb just yet...

back from the vet

she said everything on the outside looks fine with him...breathing (which has been my concern all along) is fine HOWEVER i'm to video tape him just so she knows what sort of noise i'm hearing...so that's in the to do list today or tomorrow....

he is now 7.99 kgs.....back in January he was 6.98 kgs......i know slowly but surely he has been going up...so this also is a concern....

heart murmur was up from what she usually hears in him...he gave them the same old workout...so the vet said he has a lot of fight in him...so that's good...

teeth could use cleaning but with his multiple issues it is out of the question to put him under to clean them up....

overall we won't know until the blood work comes back next week...at which point she will either send us back to the IM vet to get another ultrasound and xrays or opt to keep things as they are....meaning same med routine

so knowing me...i will want to know via ultrasound what is going on in the pancreas....BTW....she doesn't want him on insulin if he is between 6.8 mmol to 18.0 mmol (122-324)......so since i DO NOT listen to her regarding his insulin needs....i brushed it off....and NEVER told her he is on 3.5u bid!!! so that's our secret ;-)

i need to collect pee from him as he was empty at the clinic...so since he isn't shy about it...i'm on pee duty tomorrow....

i think the bloodwork will not give much info....so i'm still concerned....

overall...not bad news but not good news until results are back....

the rescue remedy worked better this time....he was not at all shaking in the car on the way there...and fell asleep on the way back...when we got home he ate and is now on the balcony sleeping....

so please continue to pray for us here...your healing vines also help....anything helps....i'm a concerned bean mom so i won't be at ease until results are in....which will take up to a week :sad:

oh golly....watch out Rocket....your bean is going be following you all day tomorrow buddy....no privacy.....geesh.

glad everything is looking OK for the Rocket Man....and I certainly won't tell that he's on 3.5 units....our little secret...

hope you thumb feels better soon.

Best of luck with the blood work. It took me forever to find a way to get Maverick's pee. Glad Rocket isn't shy about it. Awesome that he slept the whole way home and then ate.

Hey Claudia, The vet visit sounds OK to me, too. Don't stress; just wait until the results of the tests come back. I sure hope your thumb is better tomorrow. I had a cortisone shot in my thumb once, but unfortunately it did nothing for me. I just had a sore thumb longer! (It's pretty good now--15 years later. I take glucosamine.)

So glad to hear that the rescue remedy did the trick! thanks for reminding me that I need to get a feliway for our trip to Iowa next weekend!!!

thank you all for the well wishes....hand is so so...limited in what i can/can't do.....hopefully tomorrow is better

PMPS 205...i thought it'd be higher since he got back from the vet....but he seems overall relaxed...the bupe helped too...

off to take some drugs for myself....

Well, I'm glad the vet visit itself went so well for Rocket. Sleeping and eating and back on his balcony--all great news! Now the waiting again, which is always hard. I hope your thumb feels way better by tomorrow. I've never heard of getting cortisone in the thumb before--only back and knees. Ouch! Hope it works for you.

I'm sorry I wasn't on earlier to wish you and Rocket well at the vet. It sounds like everything is stable for now. I hope you will get back good news from the bloodwork.
I also hope you will feel better soon and your thumb will get better.
