Re: 6/23 FAX AMPS 173 WHAT DO I SHOOT?

I re-read the shooting low numbers stickie and ended up shooting 1.5units (a little more than 25%of his normal dose). I was only able to stall for about a half hour.

sorry none of the dose experts were around but you made the best decision that you were comfortable with. That's all we can do.
I'm sure Fax will be fine

Re: 6/23 FAX AMPS 173 WHAT DO I SHOOT?

I can't tell from your SS if you are home (or if DH is home) during the day. If so, if you look at the "Data Ready" sticky and Libby's post on low pre-shots, you should be able to shoot anything above 150. You've been doing a great job getting data. At some point, you're going to need to take a deep breath and start shooting lower numbers. Give some thought to what you're comfortable shooting. When you shoot a number lower than you've done previously, get a +1 and a +2 to start. (And make sure you have supplies in case they're needed -- plenty of strips and HC food -- and that someone will be around to monitor.)

Right now I am home most days, that's why I have been able to do so much testing!
A high preshot tonight but that was expected.
The thing that really freaks me out (and I'm sure everyone else at the start) about shooting low numbers is that most days that I see green he goes quite low early in the cycle, requiring me to give HC snacks. So starting with a low preshot number makes me feel as if he will go hypo if I administer the full dose. I really wish I could find a dose that is ideal for Fax that gets him to decent numbers but doesn't cause me to panic and feed HC snacks. Before his honeymoon last year we had it under control at 4units twice daily. We never had any hypo incidents during that 6 months or so before remission. But he was also getting dry food at some point during the day - I wonder now if that is the only reason that higher dose worked for him?
Once I am back at work I will be gone out of the house for 10 - 12 hours per day and mid cycle testing won't always be an option. This is a tricky business!
