I am exhausted. J.D. was just sleeping away, when I found the 26. I gave him some HC, and Ginger some, too.
Ginger took a couple licks and threw up all her evening meals (it looked like one can). J.D. ate her HC for her.
I gave Ginger some Pepsid AC, I think, she's a hard one to pill. I tried to follow up with syringes of water.
Normally, when she throws up, she wants more food instantly. Last night and this morning, she is turning away
from everything, even treats and dry food, even food with FortiFlora topping. I don't know what to do, but let
her rest. She is hiding behind the curtain right now. At +10 last night, right when I was just about to go to sleep
she started having dry heaves, so I syringed a little more water. She did eventually get up on her cat tree and
wag her tail furiously at me. And I did wake up to the two cats cuddled up together. I hope she's eating by the
time I get home from work. Please send vines to Ginger, I am so tired. Thanks.

Re: 06/15 J.D. AMPS 411

Dyana- I'm so sorry Ginger isn't feeling well...many healing vines for her. When Frankie and Trixie were throwing up back in April, I crushed up the Pepcid, mixed it with a little water, and syringed it. That way, I knew I got the pill in without having to fight with the "pilling aspect". Since you're able to syringe water into Ginger, maybe this approach will make getting the Pepcid in her a little easier.

I hope she feels better quickly, and you're able to get some rest.

Sending vines to Ginger, hope her tummy settles and she eats soon.

And I hope you manage to have an easy day and get some rest.

Re: 06/15 J.D. AMPS 411

Good morning, Dyana....I hope by now it is at least. Try not to work to hard and when you get home from work, I hope you have a nice relaxing day and can take a nap. I was glancing through this morning's posts and saw how high JD was and was like wow....gotta be a bounce...and sure nuff!!! WTH is he doing with the 26????? I bet that was one big  :o for you, wasn't it.
Poor Ginger....her little tummy doesn't feel to good. I hope the pepcid helps her out and she's back to her normal Ginger self by the time you get home. A few days ago, Ralph was having a bout of throwing up....he had white foamy slimy throw up and he also threw up his dinner and then his treats...he wanted to eat, but would throw it up. I was lucky enough to have some of the meds the vet gave me for when him and Ali were sick and I gave him a dose of that and it worked fine. I think everyone should have some of this stuff on hand.

Healing vines to Ginger today! I'm so sorry she isn't feeling well.

Good catch on JD last night. Nothing like a mid week pj party huh?

Hope you get some rest today and Ginger gets to feeling better!

Hi guys .. oh goodness ... Let's start with, J.D., what are you doing dropping to 26? You are crazy little man .. now you need to come down off these high floors ok? Ginger, let's hope your tummy is feeling better and you will eat fuds for your beanz tonight ...

Re: 06/15 J.D. AMPS 411

Thanks guys. My computer at home wasn't working when I left the house, so could not update you to let you know that Ginger licked a little bit of tuna water this morning.
I'm still hoping and wishing that she is eating normally, or at least a lot more, tonight.

Re: 06/15 J.D. AMPS 411, PMPS 424

No tests in between these two PSs, so who knows where he was today.

Ginger is acting somewhat okay. I took her outside and she hasn't even tried to eat any grass which is highly unusual. Normally, when she scarfs and barfs, the first thing she wants is to go outside (no matter what hour it is  ) to eat some grass.

She licked a little bit of FF at dinner tonight.

Her (and J.D.'s) poos have been the extraordinarily smelly kind, and she went this evening and it is runny.
I tried putting some FortiFlora on her dinner, and she seems slightly interested, but then won't touch it.

When we were outside (right after work), was hoping that she would be feeling better. She was mighty interested in the baby bunny, but again, didn't eat any grass (abnormal). After about 10 or 15 minutes, and after yelling at J.D. not to eat the bunny, I brought out some cat treats..sometimes I reward Ginger that way for not chasing the wildlife. She seemed interested, but then didn't eat them. We were sitting in the lawn area, waiting for the bunny to come jump into her mouth (because she is restrained by a leash, and I won't let her chase him), and I threw the end of the leash around a little, and she was playing (attacking) the end of the leash. So, I don't know. I just dont' know. I'm tired from last night..

Re: 06/15 J.D. AMPS 411, PMPS 424 - Ginger still not eating

Should she go to the vet? This all happened (the first BIG throw up) at around 12 this morning (so 18 hours ago). How long should I wait?

From now on Gravy Lover's is going to marked with a N.G. (No Ginger).

It might be a good idea to get her to the vet, especially since you want to see her back to normal before your trip. The vet can check her over, give some sub Q fluids if she is dehydrated, and perhaps a shot of Cerenia for nausea (I would ask to bring home a couple more syringes for the next couple of days).

Re: 06/15 J.D. AMPS 411, PMPS 424 - Ginger still not eating

Linda, that means the ER vet. Another $300 to $600. That's a lot. It just might be better (for me, financially) to take some time off of work tomorrow, and get her to the regular vet, tomorrow.
She's somewhat feeling okay. She's somewhat normal. But, they can hide their pain. She's laying outside on her leash now. I could give her some bupe, some mirtz, some cypro, but I'm waiting to see if she comes out of this. How long can she go without eating, before they get that liver problem? I pulled up on her skin and it goes right back down, instantly. I added a bunch of water to her dinner and gave her a little bit of FF flavored water via syringe. What spilled on the back of my hand I wiped off on her chest, and she licked it. I think I'm going to wait awhile, before taking her to the ER.
Maybe just postpone my vacation. My boss would love that!

Re: 06/15 J.D. AMPS 411, PMPS 424 - Ginger still not eating

I think the regular vet tomorrow would be fine. The HL (Hepatic Lipidosis or Fatty Liver Disease) won't come on in a few days. As I understand it, it is more common in overweight cats who are anorexic and losing weight rapidly over a period of a couple of weeks.

Re: 06/15 J.D. AMPS 411, PMPS 424 - Ginger still not eating

I'm with Linda -- a vet visit tomorrow (or sooner, if you think it's warranted).

Re: 06/15 J.D. AMPS 411, PMPS 424 - Ginger ate some cat trea

I gave her like 3 small syringes, one about every 20 minutes of FF water (not much meat). And we were outside, and she really wants that bunny. I feel bad to let her be tempted by the bunny (normally, I just tell her "No", but am letting / encouraging her interest). I took out a new bag of illegal cat treats (which are Ginger's only) and went outside and opened the fresh bag, and she ate some!!!!! She ate about 5, and then a couple minutes later, I gave her 2 or 3 more and she ate them. My heart is a little lighter.

Re: 06/15 J.D. AMPS 411, PMPS 424 - Ginger ate some cat trea

FHL can actually hit quite rapidly - in a few days. Every cat is different though. Some cats can go without eating for weeks and not get it some cats again only a few days. No amount of time not eating is "safe" so its best to address it as soon as possible which is what you are doing. I know you have knowledge on FHL when I posted about making sure the petsitter ensures Ginger keeps eating.

DO NOT USE CIPRO OR MIRTZ unless you are positive nausea is addressed. It would be like giving this to you with the flu. You'd eat but you'd feel even worse.

I wish I was closer, I'd be your petsitter. Hugs to Ginger. Do you think she senses something is up?

It's only the 1/4 can of FF that I have been adding water to, and sucking up the juice from to syringe feed her with,
but I added some treats, and some topping, and put it in the tunnel part of her cat tree. At first she turned her nose up,
but now she's eating!
