Morning Lantus Land....

Condo 6/7

Attie had a decent day yesterday. Looks like he surfed the pink floor last night...which I'm not too upset about.

As this bean found a loaded syringe still laying on the medical station ohmygod_smile :o So I guess pink isn't bad today. I often feed, fill the syringe, let it warm for 15 minutes and then shoot...I guess I forgot the last part last night.

Re: 6/9 Atlas 347

I haven't heard of letting the insulin warm.
Fur shots happen ;-) He'll be fine. Attie, come on down real nice, today, k?

Re: 6/9 Atlas 347

Dyana, somewhere I picked up that letting the insulin come up to room temperature or warming it in you hands will make it sting less.

Tena, oh...the kids are more or less fine. Although Gary has taken to attacking Atlas in the litter box. confused_cat

So now I have a few extra litter boxes out, but everyone still insists on using the one in my den. I am considering relocating it, to see if I can get them to choose the other boxes.

I had to actually think if I gave the shot last night. Pink isn't too bad without the insulin.

I give myself a shot every two weeks of Humira for my rheumatoid arthritis and it helps if I set it out for 15 minutes or so before I shoot so I can see how that could be the case for insulin as well.

Hope you have a great day!

Re: 6/9 Atlas 347

It has been a busy day today since I posted this morning...the world kinda went sideways...

Attie decided to perform a kibble raid as the bowl was empty when I got home and his BG was 441!
He has had lots of medical issues the past few months. Tuesday when I visited this geriatric toy poodle it appeared he had, had a severe stroke. A younger dog with better health would have warranted a ER vet trip, but ...Scamp on 4 medications for heart, lungs, seizures and asthma...and old age... We phone consulted with the vet and owner and all agreed as long as he did not appear to be in physical pain...to let nature take its course. He might improve some...dogs handle strokes pretty well. He might not...and he would just decline.

This morning my phone rang at 7:30am with this very unusual request for a pet sitter...from a near hysterical owner. Scamp had declined to a coma like state. So...arrangements were made, other schedules cleared...and for the first time...a back-up called in.

Today was Scamps day to know how much he is truly loved. No one can truly stand-in for an owner, but we can assure the pet is comfortable, safe, and secure. This afternoon he rousted from that deep slumber and we ventured outside for what is likely his last walk around his garden....

The day in the life of a pet sitter...
