Hi Guys...

Sorry for the late posting and missing everybody the past few days. Lots of busy stuff with cleaning up and sitting.... we were still hearing chainsaws this morning!

Yesterday's Condo

Keep us in your thoughts this evening ...we've just had another round of warnings set up with possible tornado activity!!!

Currently....getting tweets and FB postings from friends....another big one tonight...

Mark Johnson: tennis ball-sized hail in storm headed toward Huron, expect 60-80 mph winds
* AT 521 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING A TORNADO.

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271 (pink most of day)

FWIW, we had a similar weather alert this morning. All we had was rain in the Chicago area.

Hopefully, that pink is a high before a break!

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271 (pink most of day)

I'm getting tweets and FB postings from friends out that direction it is real bad.

We had a real warm day, so this thing is fired up. The radar is show magenta cloud tops. Hopefully it will die down by the time it reaches here. Cats seem unconcerned so far.

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271 (pink most of day)

The weather has been just awful up your way. Paws crossed that it settles down for you. And that Atties start to see some blues for ya. Come Attie we've all seen ya do it. We are pulling for you.

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271 (pink most of day)

Logging off for now...chat with you all later after all the bangers and boomers are done!

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271 OT (We have outbreak T's)

Nothing here other than very, very dark, but we have photos being submitted of TD's and at least 7 areas of circulation along a 50 mile stretch from the Lake to Akron, Ohio. And photos of wall clouds....

We've got 3 confirmed now that touched down... 2 active one in Geneva and the other in Copley...

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271 OT (We have outbreak T's)

stay safe, Beth. I lived in the Midwest most of my life and don't remember a season like this. Makes me glad I moved to hurricane country. (I hope I don't regret saying that, we're due for one here. At least you get warning for hurricanes, though).

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271 OT (We have outbreak T's)

Wow - not many people on random non-weather boards use the word "wall cloud" and know what it means. I'm impressed!!!

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271 OT (We have outbreak T's)

We've got 3 confirmed now that touched down... Norwalk earlier when I first started posting...

2 active one in Geneva and the other in Copley...

Weather guy's parents are in the path...he is telling them on live TV to get the dogs in and get down.

70-90 mph straight line winds....

We got missed this time. All of it danced between us just north and south. I am near the Hopkins airport.

Mentor, Ohio heading in the Geneva direction.

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271 OT (We have outbreak T's)

Beth, I wish I had something encouraging to say to you. It all scares the living daylights out of me. We got tornado warnings all day and evening Mon, and only severe storms came. They are predicting similar tonight, but at the moment it's clear and nice.
I hope yours blow away also.

Nope we're fine....darn system is wacky! Sirens stopped nearly as quickly as they sounded. I am a trained spotter so for the sirens to go off now seemed odd. The nasty stuff is already through here....

I've lived here all my life and have never seen a season like this. This is nuts! I knew we were in for a rough night this afternoon and the clouds started to thicken up and things got that funny orange tint to them...long before the actual outbreak set-up.

Got my clients dogs taken care of for walks etc. and got my butt home.

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271 OT (We have outbreak T's)

Beth: gosh what a day you have had!!! I hope you will be safe tonight and in the coming days when the tornados are so active around there. Scary photos.

Glad to see Attie is in yellow, though. ....maybe he'll come down. Hope you have lots of food, water, insulin, HC food, test strips in your basement.

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271 OT (We have outbreak T's)

Oh Beth, how scary for you (and you are a trained spotter, so you have much more knowledge than the layman of how these things proceed). I'm very glad the tornadoes missed you. I hope your weather calms down. How did Attie, Gary and Mudcat do during the alert?
Keeping fingers crossed that you will be OK from here on in. Those pictures are frightening.

I take a class every spring offered by the National Weather Service to become a trained spotter. Around here it is offered for free. You get the training and the super secret phone number to report weather events.

That is why part of me is sort of peeved that the NWS is saying my Monday evening event was straightline winds...when there is a ton of video and photography indicating otherwise.

I highly recommend the training for people who are scared of these events. It teaches you what to look for and when to take the local meteorologist storm hype seriously. The big storms don't frighten me as much as they used too. Although Monday night as I was watching the weather broadcast...stuff formed up real fast as a serious threat.

Today I was a bit more expecting it and it wasn't just some random pop-up storm.

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271 OT (We have outbreak T's)

       holy carp! stay safe - these storms are unreal. I am with the others - never before a season like this. The photos are incredible. I hope Attie is handling this OK too. Take care!

Well Gary hung out with me this evening in the living room. If I moved to look out the windows etc. he stuck with me. Muddy was hiding behind the entertainment center...

and it is nearly test time....so I'll have to go find Attie... He is my storm fraidy-cat. Guess popping a can might bring him out from his hiding spot!

Re: 5/25 Atlas PMPS 271, +3 243 OT (We have outbreak T's)

Looks like we have number 4 confirmed....

Photo of tornado between northern Monroeville and Northern Norwalk
Photographer: Bridget Liedorff

The image was snapped by Bridget Liedorff, who was in the area when the storms hit and a tornado warning was in effect for Huron County. The photo was taken in an area between northern Monroeville and Northern Norwalk at about 6 p.m.

NewsChannel5 viewers also report that a barn was destroyed in the area where the photo showed the tornado. Johnson said the plume of dust coming up on the ground from around the funnel cloud indicated to him that there was a tornado in the photo. The National Weather Service has yet to make an official determination on the tornado.

Spotter or not, I'm glad you and the kitties are safe. I lived in Akron and Cleveland for a few years and the only weather I remember complaining about was snow.

I just cant believe the images of the tornados so close to your home!!
I have never seen weather conditions like this in all my years, and even here, every storm is like strong strong winds, and rain that seems to drive you inside, or if you are driving, you need to stop! And the winds here this year! 50-70 mph sometimes!!
Stay safe and all our paws & fingers crossed for you to be safe & secure-- Safe Hugs from us!

Then you recognized all the places I listed in this thread. You know how close together these funnels and T's were. THAT is frightening and too think we had issues just on Monday! 4 touchdown out of 7 radar identified circulations. Not in Northeast Ohio... it happened tonight.

Been here all my life and up until Monday...had only experienced two ....

I had to get the spotter training when we were decommissioning a couple of reactors up in Sandusky for NASA. As the Field Safety Mgr. at the time they required it for out there.

I have gone every year since to renew and upgrade my skills. Looks like this just might be the year I get to use them. I don't chase these storms. I am what is called point. If it happens I call it in from where I am at or report damage the next day.

Like I said, this late afternoon I knew the brew was about right for some trouble.
