1/27 BooBoo pmps 379 +1-337. Possible pm fur shot

Good morning all. So far so good again. BooBoo is scheduled for her curve tomorrow. Anything else i should know before this happens?

Yeah - deactivate her cloaking device, a.k.a. Invisible Kitty. Donovan had a really bad habit of turning invisible at the worst times. Or, I'd find him and he'd be impossible to extract from his hidey hole without serious physical manipulation on my part.

Yikes! They always seem to know, huh?

BooBoo is very good in that she pretty much lays in the same spots all the time and isn't spunky enough to hide! She's real easy and if I had to pick one of the 4 cats to have diabetes (of course it would be none of them if I had it MY way) it would be BooBoo because she is pretty laid back and mellow and alas, she IS the one with diabetes (poor BooBoo)! Poking her ear is probably gonna be the worst for both of us, cuz I feel bad and it hurts her i'm sure, but she is a good kitty and lets me do what I need to...

Yeah, Donovan is the sweetest most gentle cat, but if he senses something bad is about to happen that may or may not involve him, he'll turn invisible. This was when he was unregulated and probably not feeling great, which stressed *me* out too, and they are able to sense that. The ear pokes have become such a non-event, but at the beginning I honestly didn't know how I was going to be able to do that to him. It was a huge production. Now most of the time he's sleeping when I check him, and he barely notices. I'm done in less than 30 seconds. I have not attempted to poke any of my other cats, though, so it may be that Donovan just got used to it, but I do not wish to test that theory :o

I think we got yet ANOTHER fur shot this PM. So bummed!!! :( I could swear I had it in and all of a sudden liquid on my fingers! Well the curve is scheduled for tomorrow too, so i hope it will be okay if I still do the curve, providing I actually get a good shot in! She hates having the side of her belly or legs touched, so I am left to just the scruff, and most of the time I do just great after many many fur shots at the beginning and prob was a good thing back then considering the vet had her on 10u of Humulin at 1st!!! Now, not a good thing...

Try not to worry too much...you'll get better and better at it....we've all done fur shots; it is a bummer but hopefully it won't affect the sweet BooBoo too much!

Thanx... :) I'm hoping this will get easier. It seems like ever since she was dx it has become my ENTIRE life!!!

I will check her in a bit and see if I happened to get some in her, fingers crossed...

frustrating, isnt it? i know if i werent off work this would be so hard to keep up with.
never thought i'd be glad to have a bum leg, but it happened not long after binks was diagnosed...so maybe for a reason...

Even us old timers do fur shots!! NOT TO WORRY!!! It is just a fact of life around here!--
I shoot Moonie a little past the scruff, near her shoulders & back--Pull the skin up & you can feel the syringe go in most of the time--Try Injecting an Orange!!
It was how I practiced & learned--The Only way--as I was scared to hurt her--And the faster you are the easier it is--
Just walk over to do that shot with confidence & you will do it!!-It is really hard to inject an animal you love, but you know you are life saving!!

Yes they do become your entire life, but you will learn how to balance your bean life with your people life--It just takes time & again, patience--
You find ways of doing what you have to do, but in the beginning they are our whole existence- It does work out--Just need to time your life differently,
like I dont usually go out before her +3 or +4 because her nadir is about +4-+6---Soon you'll be shooting Booboo like a champ, just go easy on yourself--

Thanx everyone, you brought a smile to my face and a warm cozy to my heart! I've heard about the orange thing, and it just so happens I bought some at the store today! I think I'm gonna try it tonight because I wanna be ready for BooBoo's curve tomorrow (here we go...).

It also looks by what I see earlier today that she has a pattern on lantus already of her nadir being around +5. Guess we will find out tomorrow! Oh and I bought brand new lancets for BooBoo for her curve tomorrow since I'll be poking so much. They are the Ultra Fine 33g ones! Hope this helps her out!!!

Is the rule for the curve every hour or every 2 hours? I've seen every 2 I believe. But would every hour be better? Also is it for the full 24 hours? Cause that would be kinda hard or is it just for the 12 hours during the daytime?
 
i think most folks do it every 2 hours for the 12 hour cycle.

i have a nice curve workup that some one posted in one of binks' early condos...i'll see if i can find it and give you the link...
