good morning!

if you didnt see the video MJ dropped off for us yesterday...you've got to take a look...it's great!

we broke out the new couch bed last night, as Binks was feeling spunky, and after the 3rd enthusiastic drubbing he dealt Smudge,
I figured it was time to take pity on her.
he's at it again this morning, and i'll be honest...it's nice not to have velcro cat glued to me!
the manxie is taking back the lap that is rightfully his!

Hehehe, I love 'velcro cat'. I have one of those, only it's my feet that little Clancy, is attached to. I fear for his life is I ever decide to wear shoes in the house.

What a wonderful start to Binks' day. Hope he surfs smoothly for you today, Celi. :-D

Binks is beautiful again this morning. I feel bad for your two girls lately LOL. I remember feeling horrible for Binks that his world was flipped upside down not too long ago. Give them all hugs.

O Traitorous Bean!! The rule book MUST clearly say "no spraying of the manx male allowed"!! She intentionally hit me with 5, maybe 6 drops!!

all 5 p's now...and one very pist damp kitty... :lol: sorry, bud...i felt it was only fair, and a bit of a prevention measure, as Smudge weighs 7 lbs more than you...and has an extra claw on each of those front clodhoppers we call paws!

I'll have to get a decent picture of those polydactyl paws...they're amazing! the 6 claws are separated 2 on the inside and four outside, so she looks like she has opposable thumbs...

turning out to be a hectic day...the momster is terribly ill from the shingles, so am doing back and forth between June-bob and Billy-binks.

he's cruising in his new cool style, thank goodness.

I don't actually have pics of the 3 Mouseketeers ...crappy cell fone camera, and havent unpacked my digital equipment yet...bu will try soon, as the tortie pics i posted
way back when really don't do them justice...

probably be much later before i can visit any more condos, BUT:

my pharmacy tech certification allows me to advise this...if you are at risk for shingles, and have not been vaccinated...please rethink your decision.
Pain and Nausea extraordinaire if you get them.

Binks, you look absolutely mahvelous! All that activity with Smudge and Annie agrees with you, despite your remarks to the contrary. Maybe you should send them over here to perk up Rusty and send his bgs down a bit!

if you remember Euell Gibbons and his commercials, you'll already know what contraband binks helped himself to. Grape Nuts with whole milk and sugar...

my fault for dashing up the street and leaving it on the counter.

guess this will provide us with a response when someone posts the question "how long do grapenuts take to clear their system?" :lol:

and yes, there is a vaccine for shingles, recommended for folks over 50, or with immunodeficiency, or on immunosuppressant medications.
the nerve pain resulting from having an outbreak of shingles can last for up to a year after the outbreak.
OUCH!

Oh no, I feel bad for you having shingles. I had them once in my early 30's, and very painful. Yes, the doctors always mention it's best to get the vaccine. I can't have it because it's a live vaccine. Binksy darling, Maggie says you are looking so good.

Celi, I'm so sorry your mom got shingles. I hope she has an easy time of it.
I should be thinking about the vaccine too, as I did have chicken pox as a kid. The virus stays in the body. Thanks for the reminder.

edited out thoughtless remark about friend's mom. Doesn't mean your mom will have a hard time with it.

Hope your Mom gets better soon My Mom had that about 20 yrs ago and it bothered her for almost a year

Also, the virus which causes shingles is a re-visit from chickenpox! And when the chickenpox re-emerges from your spinal column, where it was hiding out, not only can it cause shingles, it can travel along any nerve ... including the ones in your head and neck, causing such conditions as Bell's palsey and vestibular neuronitis (which I just had ... and spent 24 hours in an ER hooked up to an IV and drugged to squelch the vertigo I had. ICK!)

Oh I'm so sorry about your mom's shingles. My mom had shingles a few years ago and it is so painful. I hope it doesn't last too long.

As always, the binkster's condo is a ray of sunshine! Grape nuts!!! LOL. We will all have a great chuckle when that inevitable day comes, no? :)

Love that Smudge is a 6-toe-er! Interesting historical note... almost all cats on Key West have six toes. Ernest Hemingway was obsessed with them and had lots of them at his home there. Today, there are several caretakers on site whose sole job is to keep his kittys' descendants happy and healthy. most of the cats on the island are descended from his original brood, and several are friendly ferals that roam the island (and hang out at Ricky's Blue Heaven outdoor restaurant along with the random chickens, hoping to snag some goodies off the diners' plates!). A group is dedicated to getting them spayed/neutered to keep the populations under control (without eradicating them as they are a part of the island's charm).

Gah. There is a special now from KC... $312RT to key west, AND I have family there with couches i could crash on. sounds so good!!! thanks alot, smudge!!! :lol:

Celi: just about to go to bed when I read your condo. Hey girl, I've been getting shingles outbreaks (almost always dormant now) since I was 28. Around the time Mike and I got married, I had them for about 3 months straight :lol: :lol: :lol: yeah..I had been single a long time and wasn't sure about the marriage gig. :twisted: :twisted: ANYWAY....acyclovir (zovirax) is a lifesaver for me. Over the years, my shingles outbreaks have decreased in occurrence and intensity but once they started making acyclovir, it was a HUGE difference for me. I can tell when they are starting up and then I start taking the meds and they never get bad or horribly painful like they did before acyclovir. I know some people stay on a maintenance dose of it but I don't have to. If your mom does not take this and she can, she should.

P.S My mother in law just told us she has been diagnosed with shingles. She sounded uncomfortable. She said she did have the shingles shot, so the doc told her that her outbreak will be somewhat milder, but she said it was still painful. What a bummer. :cry: .
