bah, another pink morning. Tray was full of cuddles and purrs this morning and didn't want me to leave. I didn't want to either, bloody cold out there this morning!

The vet did not call me yesterday, she got tied up in surgery but she emailed to say she is going to research levemir and get back to me today. This is not my regular vet, who is on sabbatical until May. (must be nice!) so I am a bit nervous about going through this possible change with someone I'm not used too. So...if I bug everyone here with questions and my usual impatient rantings, forgive me.

Maybe you should get Tray a nice emerald green collar, and green testing towel and subconsciously get him thinking green.

At least the vet is up to researching the Lev. You could send her some info too. You know that this group is going to support what ever you do every step of the way.

Good morning, Iorwen & Tray ;-)
Book for Stinkus Pink, but Tray's lil body will move into action soon. As far as the Lev goes, I dunno anything about it.. but I do know that you will never annoy us with TONS of questions.. we are all here to help each other :YMHUG:
Furs & Purrs this morning sound lovely, have a great day!

Hi Iorwen,

Rusty is on Lev., but I really don't know much about it except that it has a lot in common with Lantus (needs to be dosed every 12 hours; builds a shed). Rusty was switched from Lantus last spring, when he went to live with Phoebe, because Phoebe's other diabetic cat, Tiggy, was on Lev and she didn't want to deal with two insulins. I considered switching him back (because I had Lantus cartridges still from Stu), and was told that I could do this if I wanted to, but Claudia (cjleo; his foster mom who started him on Lantus in Nov. 2008) advised me to keep him on Lev. because it seems to work better for long-term diabetics. Rusty in general has very shallow curves and doesn't bounce and dive (unless I give fur shots, which I seem to be good at!). But I don't know if this is owing to Lev., or if it is simply Rusty himself. I have heard that nadir seems to be later with Lev. (I think this is true with Rusty). I think there is info. in the Sticky in the Levemir Forum to the effect that 1 unit of Lantus is not quite the equivalent of 1 unit of Lev., but I can't recall at the moment whether it is more or less!! I'll check it out, but suggest that you do also.

Ella

p.s. Check out Sticky "Levemir 101" in the Levemir forum. Very good info. Also check the following disucssion on measuring doses: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=34424
I has some great photographs of microdoses.

Sorry for the pink.... I hope you come home to blue, maybe some greens tonight. we can always hope. I know nothing on Lev, but do know that questions are good things - so let 'em fly.

have a great evening!
