Hi Celi and Nicole,
Whiskers has been very naughty this afternoon. We usually don't leave food out on the counters, but we have company from out of town, and some pumpkin bread was left out as well as some powdered sugar frosting for sugar cookies. We turn our backs for a couple minutes and she tore into both bags ohmygod_smile

Whiskers adventures with sweets today has definatly been detrimental +6 is 304. Do I wait until tonight for the next insulin at +12?

hi Cheryl,
not too sure about your question - but yes, you'll want to stay on a 12/12 shooting schedule as best as you can.
so your PMPS would be 12 hours from the AMPS.

I used a new meter and lancet with Whiskers tonight. Went very well. It is the bayer contour, which I recieved from the newbie kit. She didn't cry with the lancet poke and it worked on the first try. Maybe this one will be better for lancing. dancing_cat
Whiskers is high again tonight. I will check her BG again before bed.

I used the contour meter and liked it a lot. I tried a few others, but it was my favorite. You may find the lancing 'device' eventually wears out. Mine peetered on me with its uuumpf. Maybe I just tested too much. :roll: Anyway, contour strips are very expensive in the store. I got great deals off ebay and was able to buy extra lancet devices dirt cheap.
Keep whatever you had before as a back up meter.

Thanks for the Ebay tip. Do you think the contour meter is more reliable? I did a control test tonight and it is in the right range. And I will keep the other meter (relion) as a back up.

Toward the end of Latte's stay contour prices were going up or harder to find on ebay.
Some time tomorrow I will try to check with my supplier ( :lol: sounds so funny), See if things are changing. Sometimes, if money is an issue, you need to go with what is hot AND cheap!

So true. My husband and I both work, but each time we take wiskers into the vet it seems to run upwards of $300. We have had a couple visits around the $100 mark, but that was usually if we asked for lab tests (no exam). Our vet is pretty good about lab test (no exam) so we are fortunate there. I don't even want to talk about the ER visits, as I sure eveyone else here knows how expensive those are :twisted:
I just want what all of us want, to keep whiskers happy and healthy. :razz:

Whiskers has come down about 200 in BG from PMPS 465 to +2.5 288. We will try harder to keep food of the counters. It happened twice during this holiday week.
