Yesterday's condo...

Today: AMPS 305 +3 278 +4 279 +8 275 PMPS 284 +4 261

All is getting back to normal in Sootyville this AM, except - still no poops! So he got 1/8tsp of Miralax with his breffis. He must've figured something was up here, because as soon as he finished eating, he went and climbed into the LB and peed right over the edge, all over the floor!
But being the alert, FD bean that I (now) am, instead of grabbing him and re-aiming him, I went and grabbed a Ketone stick and dipped it into the puddle. Am I well trained, or what?

Anyhow the good news: Ketones: Negative.
The bad news: Entrance lobby / hallway: flooded!

Heck it could be a lot worse did you hear about the Tornado that touched down in Buford, GA yesterday? That's a whole 20-something miles from us. Yikes!

How long has it been since you saw solid LB action?
Isn't it great that we watch for all the Ps? ;-)

Sometimes, Shadow's numbers go a little higher when he hasn't gone. I give him some tuna oil which he loves to lick up and that seems to help. (I used to buy tuna with water, but not anymore!) The Miralax works too~eventually. But I think it is never soon enough for me as I keep a watch on the LB.
Sooty...that is a low pink, but a pink nonetheless. You Daddy is going to have to start a new page on his SS where there will be no pinks~~ever again! ;-)

So glad you were 20 miles away form that tornado! nailbite_smile

Glad to hear Sooty's starting the day off right in typical cat fashion. Better to have a sloppy LB action than none at all!
OK for the messes, I have a bunch of rubber backed mats from Petsmart, plus I put newspaper under them, all in front of the LB. Shadoe has a habit if piddling in front of the LB when she is not well or her numbers are too high, too low, change too quickly, or just cuz.
the mats are machine washable and they make for easier cleanup, especially if the miralax works a bit too well and Sooty makes it 'almost' to the LB. That's happened to Ollie and he acts so upset and embarassed but I praise him and give a treat for his extreme efforts to make it to the right place.

The miralax takes a few meals to get Ollie moving, and then I watch to see the consistency and adjust as needed. if you don't see any movement, you can always up the sprinkles then reduce once mission accomplished. I am sure you will be able to tell when that happens by the smile of relief on his face!

You are very well trained!! Any thought to getting a bigger LB? If Sooty is peeing over the edge, you may need either a bigger box or a deeper one. Some friends of mine got a deep box (more like a plastic storage container for sweaters/clothes, etc.) and cut down part of one side as an "entrance."

Thanks Pat, too true I never thought I'd ever end up becomig a P-watcher - life plays it;s little tricks on you, huh?!?!? :lol:
We tried Tuna in oil before and he doesn't like it... although maybe we could get a can and mix the oil with his regular food?
...it's been 2 days (3, now, as of this morning) since his last 'action'
The track of the weather yesterday was from the SW towards the NE and Buford is NE of us - so that weather system can't have missed us by more than a mile or two (maybe less!), on its way to Buford, we reckon....!! <scary nailbite_smile >

Gayle, yes we have a mat down... helped a bit!
Sienne, yes the current LB actually is one of those 'under the bed' storage boxes, only about 4 or 5 inches high though, so he can pee over the edge unfortunately. We were using a taller one before, but he was having trouble getting in and out. We'll just have to write this one off as an 'accident' and hope that he really didn't do it on purpose... :twisted: !!

:lol: Sounds like an accident to me. I watch Shadow and sometimes he just stands up too high and shoots over the wall of the LB. That sounds like what Sooty did this morning. Shadow then scratches the walls and the side of the LB making a great deal of noise and not covering anything at all IN the box. He keeps doing the scratching and making noise for a long time. I think he wasn't paying attention during the LB training when he was a little one. :lol:

Yes I think that's exactly it. Except Sooty hardly ever covers anything up afterwards. He'll do a dig and a scrat around in the litter beforehand though! Alas I think poor old Sooty never even got the LB class at all, when he was a kitten...!

good morning guys! Sorry to hear about peeing over the edge of the kitty box .. mocha just loves to squat right in the corner where the top cover and bottom box meet and get it right out through that hairline opening ... this is such a low pink I would have to guess you will be seeing some nice colors later on . .have a great day guys!

Yep we've had that too, with a LB that had a top half!!

We noticed Sooty smiling and looking more comortable looking (yes really!) so we went to check the LB and Bingo!!! Yep - he's presented us with that missing P(oop) !!

AND - get this - ohmygod_smile he had covered it up! - perfectly! WOW this is what you call progress!!!!

I know y'all couldn't wait to hear the news... :o !

binks never learned to bury anything as my other manx did it for him from the first day we got him...but boy, do i get a filthy look if i don't clean his Breeze LB immediately after he's done!

stern taskmasters...these FD kitties!

Hey Perry and Sooty! Just stopping in to say hi! I hope you get some action soon and start seeing some blues! We've finally started seeing some with Emma this week. I hope it keeps up!

She has always had a constipation problem, and I've tried miralax and lactulose, but what seems to work best for her is 1 tbsp of canned pumpkin in her food in the AM and PM. Now she delivers almost daily!

Thanks Kristen - blues would be quite something but we're probably a ways off - yet (what with the Acro...) - and thanks, will remember the pumpkin tip in case! He seems to be Ok again now after the close call over the weekend... all systems seem to be back on line now!
