First I want to say, THANKS to all of you, for all the support last night. :-D :-D :-D

At least his head isn't crooked this morning.
but, 478

I gave him some R along with his Levemir. He was almost finished happily gobbiling up his 1st breffis, when I gave him his Clavamox. Then he headed to his bed. Yucky Stuff! I put some treats in his bowl. He got a drink of water. And is now going to sleep in his bed by the window.
And I am headed to a sleep in, myself

From my last post

I did not know that fortiflora could cause any problems with other things or meds.
Shadoe likes it so much that if I dont' sprinkle some on every meal, I get the "What? No sprinkles?" look.

No FortiFlora is Good Stuff! It's probiotics. It helps the bacteria in the intestines, I think. The question I was asking last night was how long to wait after giving the antibiotics before giving the FortiFlora. My understanding is the antibiotics destroy ALL the bacteria (Both the good and the bad bacteria) and you want to give probiotics to put the good bacteria back in.
Plus it helps with diarhea that may come after awhile of using antibiotics.
My cats LOVE FortiFlora. :-D

Morning! quite the night you had Dyana....hope J.D is doing better...
hope you have a good day and happy Thanksgiving! have a good sleep!!zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Re: 11/25 J.D. AMPS 478

I'm so glad the vet didn't find anything unduly concerning.

I think you want a 2 hour window between FortiFlora and ABs. I'm hoping Pat will stop by since I'm pretty sure she knows the answer to your question.

Re: 11/25 J.D. AMPS 478

I agree with Sienne....at least 2 hours between. I used to give it with their +4 meal after the ABs in the morning with breffis. I would think that continuing with the Fortiflora after the course of the ABs would be a good idea if you can. The ABs are constantly wiping out all the bacteria as you said...and the friendly bacteria needs to be replenished. One should not give it at the same time as the Clavamox....

Re: 11/25 J.D. AMPS 478

Dyana...I hope you are enjoying your btb. I just read what happened yesterday. I am glad his head is not tilted this morning...and hope that it continues to look okay all during the day today. That is so very odd, isn't it? What it is with that tooth...is it on the same side of his head as he tilts it? I am glad you took him in...it was the best thing you could do when you noticed this. I do hope he will be back to normal soon....
Hoping you have a Happy Thanksgiving....scritches to J.D. from all of us... :YMHUG:

ETA: The first time and second I used Clavamox with Shadow, he vomited on the 5th days. The vet said to stop for 24 hours and then resume giving it to him. I also gave it to Raja for 2 weeks and she never once vomited. It can upset their stomach so it should be given with food. Have you given it to J.D. in the past? I hope he doesn't have any reactions to it but if he does, just give the vet a call and let them know. They might tell you just what mine said.

Re: 11/25 J.D. AMPS 478

Ok, got the AB's into him and he ate and now it's time for JD to come on down, I know he'll do that with the little bit of R.
I hope you enjoyed your btb'ing Dyana and also enjoy your day today! Happy Thanksgiving!

Re: 11/25 J.D. AMPS 478

Morning! What a day for you yesterday. I am glad that they did not find anything wrong with JD.
Sorry for the 478, hopefully JD can bring that down today.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

JD - it's me Mannie. shhhhh --- but all us kitties are getting together to share this day with each other, to be thankful for our friends. Our beans will be so busy that they will never miss us. Can you come? You can bring Ginger too if you want. I will pick you up... and - hey - i got some turkey too... See you soon! ~~ Mannie

Re: 11/25 J.D. AMPS 478

Re: 11/25 J.D. AMPS 478

Happy Thanksgiving, Dyana! I'm glad you got a good report from the vet. Hopefully the AB will take care of any hidden infection! J.D., please come down off the red floor!

Nice job helping Aseel and Noni last night! :-D

Re: 11/25 J.D. AMPS 478, +5 394

Glad JD is okay Dyana. I think there must have been some strange kitty weirdness in NJ last night. All of a sudden out of nowhere Alex got sick. He was all wobbly and uncoordinated. He stared at dinner part 2 and wanted no part of it after begging me for it 1/2 hour earlier. he was limping around(he does get sprains in his legs from neuropathy every now and then..he slips). He had 103.5 temperature. i was terrified that he threw a blood clot from his heart so I checked his paws and nail beds and they were all fine. I gave him fluids and started him on AB's(this HAS happened before which I'm SURE is what the vet would have done)..and within an hour he was eating again and today his temperature is normal and he's hungry again....

WTH?

I'm glad you'll be able to rest and have a happy Thanksgiving!

Give JD a big scritch and a kiss for me!

Re: 11/25 J.D. AMPS 478, +5 394

I woke him up, well, I actually just woke up too  and tested and gave him some more R and then gave him a big 2nd breffis well sprinkled with FortiFlora.

I don't yet know how I'm going to do this. I shoot and feed one hour before I leave for work. 6:30am shoot and feed (give Clavamox then because that's when he eats) and then at 7:30am give him FortiFlora with his 2nd breffis and leave for tbp.
Would that work okay? I could try to sprinkle it on top of his frozen food that I leave out too.

Thanks Pat. Actually he has no teeth on the side of his head that was tilted downwards. The tooth is on the Right and his head was tilted down on the Left side.
I did a search of my spreadsheet, and I gave Clavamox before his dental and see (am reminded of) that he had lethargy, throwing up, diarhea, inappetance. Man, I had antibiotics! I was giving him Pepcid AC before he ate, Clavamox with food, FortiFlora after, and using Mirtz and Cypro (not at the same time) to get him to eat.
I do see that I was given Antirobe after his dental. I think I'll call my vet tomorrow, and ask if it would be okay to change to that, instead.

On a good note: It's snowing !!!

Enjoy your day.

No, not snowing here...I'm right near Manhattan

Alex has HCM...cats that have that can throw blood clots and when they do they often go to their back legs which cuts off circulation. Because Alex was limping I checked to see if his pads were cold or if his nail beds were purple. They were warm and pink. I don't believe a stroke would do that but I don't know. I guess if it was caused by a blood clot it could. I always check ears and pads first thing for temperature anyway and now I check for color as well because of Alex's heart. Because of his last episode exactly like this, he gets 1/5 of an 81 grain aspirin every 3 or 4 days. Ya' know how hard that is to cut??? ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile

Glad JD is doing well also ♥

Re: 11/25 J.D. PMPS 358

Hi Dyana! Im sorry you had such a scare last night. I read your post from last night today and saw what great concern you had. I always think its better safe than sorry! You did the right thing. Im glad to hear he is ok. Im sure youre relieved. And now you are able to enjoy your day off, right?!?!

HAPPY TURKEY DAY!
*see that green JD!

Hugs to you and yours! :YMHUG:

I hope J.D. starts feeling more like hisself, soon. He's eating and all, he's just off. The ABs will make him feel off, right?

I may have done wrong. At PMPS I gave him a whole half can of FF, when I normally only give him 1/4 can for each meal, and then he ended up eating Ginger's leftovers, too. So he ate a lot more than normal. And then 2 hours later he had to eat another meal because he had to get his FortiFlora.

I'm not blaming his high numbers on this, but I did come home to check on him once late this afternoon, and I found both of my kitties doing something suspicous on the bed. When I checked it out, I found that somehow (and I have no idea how), they had opened a container of Ginger's Whisker Lickins cat treats and a bunch had spilled out and I don't know how many J.D. got. What was really weird was that the container was on the bed and the lid was 5 feet away on the floor, like she (of course I blame Ginger) had drug the container for quite a bit  I guess I'll call that their dessert

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

Im sorry, its not really funny...but the way you told it!

I'm glad J.D. is feeling better. Hope the meds don't bother him too much. Have a good day tomorrow at work and a great 3 day weekend.

I wasn't at all sure where this story was headed.

You did a great job with Aseel last night - it was all over by the time I came along and read it. I hope JD is soon back to normal. I hope you had a good day today
