Here's Caturday's condo...

All fine in Sootyland this AM, usual purrs for pokes and as he just did a mega-P in the LB, I grabbed a dipstick - and his oil level was just fine. (Ket neg..!)

Whose turn is it to beat the Vikes today I wonder? (I forget...)

Have a good Sunday, everypeeps!

Re: 11/21 Sooty AMPS 301

Almost yellow. Hope Sooty comes down through the yellows and to some pretty blues, today. Enjoy!

Into the yellows....good job Sooty! happy Football day to you guys....hope you enjoy your day.
Oh, this is the Dental Eve isn't it?
Wishing Sooty good dental vines....hope all goes really well for him...and you two. I HATE dental days. I think it's worse on ME than it is for my kitties, but I know it is the best thing for them....wishing you well!

Re: 11/21 Sooty AMPS 301 +2 283

I have a love-hate thing with dentals. I know they are very good, must be done, and will make kitty feel oh so much better, but I am a basket case and can do nothing, not even think, so forget about working!

I hope all goes perfectly for Sooty, and he reflects some awesome nice numbers afterward.

Thannks Pat, thanks Gayle! Yes dental day is tomorrow... yes let's hope it goes well, we haven't been through one before but Sooty is a trooper so we're hoping he'll be OK...

Procedure is scheduled for 2PM EST. Will let you know how it all went, afterwards, of course - soon as we can.

I don't recall seeing what you were given for dental info, so below is likely a repeat.
Just want to be sure you have some info and can ask some questions, before the vet gets the ball rolling.

Dental Info

Dental info

• X-rays: either before or the day of the procedure. Also x-rays after to make sure there are no tooth fragments left after an extraction.
• Bloodwork: prior to the dental to rule out anything that would prevent the procedure
• Pre-anesthesia sedation/induction: Ketamine (some has been recalled), propofol, valium. Induction should be with an IV drug vs. a gas.
• Anesthesia: Sevo or Isoflurane (these should not be used for induction, however)
• Blood pressure monitoring (Doppler or Cardell monitor)
• Cardiac monitor: pulse oximeter or cardiac monitor
• IV catheter for fluid access
• Post-procedure antibiotics if necessary. (See Dr. Lisa’s commentary)
• Pain meds: administered post-procedure and to take home: Buprenex, no metacam due to the potential for renal failure. A fentanyl patch may be excessive for the purpose of this kind of pain management

Best OT note I can make today is that I think Sooty and us (grammar?!?) are doing a waaaaay better job than the freaking Minnesota Vikings!!

Can you say "blow-out"? Can you say "bye-bye, Brett" ?

Around this time of year we have a family tradition where we switch our allegiance from our beloved (but ever-losin') Vikings, to our "alternate" (usually Play-off!) team, the PITTSBURGH STEELERS. (My Grandpa was in Pittsburgh and worked for Bethlehem Steel, from 1909 to ~1914, he was Chief Chemist for them when he went back to UK for WW1! - so we feel somewhat "entitled" to be Steelers fans, at least for the playoffs and heck when they win the SUPERBOWL!).

OK I feel better now so let's get back to Feline matters: we are as ready as we probably can be, for Sooty's dental tomorrow and I promise we will let you guys know how it goes.... just as soon as we can. thanks for all the help, advice and support (as ever!)
