I am nervous to increase to 1.5 after reading the article on Feline Diabetes by Dr. Lisa and that Star Cat ate 1/2 can of the 3 carb food for dinner only. First low carb meal ever.

Please advise, shot was due 15 minutes ago.

No expert here, but you should be fine with the shot at 1.5u and the low carb food. If you're worried, then get a +2 to see how the cycle is progressing. You can always feed additional later if you need to.

it is good that Star Cat is on a lower carb food.

Thank you for your reply. I know the boards are really busy tonight and some kitties are truly in need.

I wish I had thought of that, I'm so darn nervous with her on this new insulin and her history of diving!

Here's what I did: Gave her the 1U and plan to recheck in 1 hour.

Considering that 310 is the second lowest number on her chart since starting Lantus, and not fully understanding shed, I thought it was better to err on the side of caution. I didn't think of giving more food later. (DUH!)

Thanks again.

:-D You did great! I think it is important that we do what we are comfortable with. After a while it really does get so much easier. The move to a low carb food is really the way to go - you will over time get better and better numbers for your kitty. And you will get used to those lower numbers too.

My kitty is also a diver. Food has become my friend. I would just watch Star cat tonight, since it is a new food, and see where he goes. If it's too low for you comfort zone, then go ahead and feed him. it doesn't have to be much - just a teaspoon or two usually get results. If by any chance you are really worried and want one of the dose experts to read your condo, then change you first posts' subject line to include "help needed" or whatever. Those posts usually get looked at first.

Good luck! and have a great evening!

Thank you, thank you! Pat just gave me a really nice message in my other condo. I am feeling very good about Star and where we are heading!
