The Tight Regulation Protocol with Lantus or Levemir describes what we've dubbed New Dose Wonkiness (NDW) here in LL:

"Many cats will occasionally react to an increased dose with increased BGs - within the first 2 to 3 days after an increase, usually lasting for less than 24 hours. Nobody really knows what the reason for this phenomenon is (perhaps a "panicky liver"?) - hold the dose and ignore the fluctuations."

The concept of New Dose Wonkiness is NOT applied to higher numbers seen after a dose reduction. Once any apparent rebound has cleared, if higher numbers are seen after a dose reduction you should return to the last "good" dose as described in the The Tight Regulation Protocol with Lantus or Levemir:

"If the cat will not stay in the normal range after a reduction, immediately increase the dose again to the last good dose."

"Filling the Shed/Insulin Depot" is a term used for the process of building the cumulative action of Lantus or Levemir when a dose has been increased. This process *usually* takes at least 6 consecutive shot cycles... sometimes more. Many refer to this process as "settling time". You are NOT filling the shed following a dose reduction.

It's important to note both "NDW" and "filling the shed/Insulin Depot" are processes associated with dose increases.
They have nothing to do with higher numbers seen after a dose reduction.
