Muffin is busy chowing down breffis. She visited the LB right before am test - ketones neg. :thumbup Fur is still ruffled, or pokey, or whatever. I'm going to hold off on any meds this morning and see what her numbers do. Will report more on how she's feeling after some observation (just woke up in time to feed other cats and test) Now the drooler wants his food too.

OT: My friend has been telling me for a year now that I need to watch Beverly Hills Chihuahua, cause my drooler looks just like Chloe. It came on yesterday, so I decided to watch it. Rumpy (drooler) sat straight up, ears perked, little head cocking back and forth and watched the first 20 mins of it like that, whining and barking, before he jumped down to look for the dogs in the hallway and the bathroom and behind the dresser the tv sits on. :lol: :lol: It was really funny!

+1 163 She seems to feeling pretty good today so far. I don't want to jinx it tho, it's not even 10am here yet. At +1 test, we used the sunlit spot on the floor of the testing room and stayed there for a good 10 mins after, petting, rubbing and purring. Then she had a little more breffis, and is now getting a drink.

+3 124 She seems so good today and her numbers are coming down so nicely, I'm wondering whether to call the vet or not bother. She's doing this with no meds on board, too.

Vet just called me back - he wanted to just give her a different ab, but I asked for a re-do of the cysto, an in house check of it and then a culture if infection still present. I don't want to waste another week waiting for an ab to work without even knowing if it's warranted. So we're going back in shortly.

Back from vet - he did another cysto and there is still some infection there. He gave Zeniquin this time, (3/4 tab once a day for 7 days) and will do C&S and get back to me with those results, and of course make adjustments then if needed. This is actually a relief. At least for now I can stop worrying about it being something else. Hope this works!

Ugh I hate the vetty bean place - I was having so much fun in NYC with Stu and the gang! And now I smell funny and am missing another patch of hair! I know I'm pretty, but sheesh, come on! - Muffin

Muffin! No worries - I'll get Tess and we will be right there - she has this awesome spa treatment she does that takes care of all the nasty vetty smell. We can go back to Stu's if you want... ~~ Mannie

wow on the UTI still. well at least now you know what it is. I hope Muffin will be OK soon.

Anne...well, at least that might give you an indication of all that is going on with her. Poor girl....she's probably in pain and discomfort. The c&s should give you an idea if there is a better AB for her. Pls keep us posted.

Hope the new antibiotic does the trick and wipes out that UTI. We want your beautiful little girl feeling her best again.

A cysto? Do you meant a cytocentesis (needle into the bladder for a sterile sample)? If the vet is doing a culture and sensitivity, you won't have results for 3 days. Also, how did your vet identify anything when Muffin is on ABs already? Typically, for a repeat cytocentesis and C & S, Muffin would have had to have been off ABs for at least a week or more so you don't get a false negative reading.

Binks - Nope, didn't even get anything cool or fancy like that, just a little bald spot. Good thing is tho, I still got all my nipples. Phew! - Muffin

Sienne - Yes, I mean needle into the bladder. And yeah, vet said 2-3 days for results. Muffin's other vet (2 dr's at same office, one is there thurs-fri, other one there the other days) said to discontinue the clavimox back on 9/22, after 4 1/2 days (9 doses), thinking that the infection was caught early and was minor so that was maybe long enough to cure it, and it may have been what was making her not feel good. So she has been off of them for 5 days. He really only repeated all this at my request - his initial suggestion was just giving her the zeniquil. I wanted a recheck in case the infection HAD cleared already, we would just be wasting a week before looking for something else.

Sorry to hear that Muffin still has the UTI, but at least you know why she isn't feeling well. I hope the Zeniquin works!
