9/21 Moonie AMPS 215,+6~109,PMPS 186,+4~153

Morning LL!! Moonie is doing well today, but very very jealous!! Hoping for nice numbers from her today as I added a drop..
All P's but Moonie is being a little mean to her bro, think he still smells of vet?
Copper is doing well- eating blender chciken & steak! + soupy cat food.
-They counted 6 actual teeth extracted, one was a nib of a tooth in his gum, so they were kind--didnt count it==$691 with meds- not as bad as I thought!
Got the bupe into him with a bit of a struggle, however, the ab's pill is another issue!--I usually give it to him in a pill pocket & he chews it & eats it up-
Dont know if that will work with his gums like they are..Vet will call today to see how he is--I'll ask....
Can I crush up a clavamox??

Hi Roni, Very glad to hear that Copper is doing well after the extractions. Clavamox comes in liquid form (actually, a powder that you mix in its container with water and then screw on the eye-dropper cap). We used this for Stu. I don't think it tastes good, but we were able to get it into him!
Good AMPS for Moonie. Why is she jealous? Surely she didn't want to go to the vet??!!

I would certainly think you could crush the clavamox - I don't think I've ever read where it was a timed released pill. If you do crush it though, try putting it with small amount food so he gets it all in. Might have to be stinky food like sardine or tuna if it does taste that bad. (story - I"m borrowing your condo for it: once when we had both Merlot and Tuscany - Merlot was having some inappropriate urination issues. The vet decided to put Merlot on elavil to see if it would help. We had to cut the pill for proper dose. Merlot fought us with that pill, foamed at the mouth so bad, etc. DH got to wondering if the pill tasted bad so stuck his tongue on the cut side of a pill and made a horrible face - the pill was sooo bitter. I think we stopped it after that - it hadn't seemed to be helping anyways)

Glad the dental went well, man 6 teeth... How old is Cooper?

He is doing well today so far!-

Moonie is collecting pigeons from outside to make a squab dish for the Full Moon Party & the menu books are all over!!!

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the vet smell is still all over Copper and that's why Moonie is being mean. I"m sure she'll be over it once he can clean it all offa himself.

Clavamox comes in a liquid form, I get it in a bottle....it's pink and has the eye-dropper thing. However, after 6 extractions, I don't think it would be helpful to grab Copper's head to try to get the liquid down, but maybe for future reference you can request the liquid ABs. Sounds like the crushed up pills in his chicken mush is working. I do understand that the clav. is an awful tasting pill, I tried once to crush it up in tuna juice but apparently the bad smell still came through.

I normally get the liquid clavimox and have actually administered it by mouth and over food - depending on which cat was getting it. With Shnookie, because he is so big, I've gotten the pills because it was cheaper (they prescribed him 3x the normal amt once) and crushed them mixed in with a tiny amt of food to make sure he ate it all, then gave more food to get rid of the taste. Not sure any of my other cats would eat that tho, Shnookie just never misses a meal...or a snack...or a bite... :lol:

Hi Roni. I'm glad Copper is doing so well after his dental. Six extractions -poor guy. He must be sore. I know Clavamox can be crushed and sprinkled into the food. I'm so lucky both Tori and Rocky are very easy to pill. Malachi might be another story. Fortunately I've never had to pill him.

Copper is doing better & is eating chicken in tiny lil pieces ok and ate some cat food off their usual plate-I am Happy!
Clavamox went down in some blender chicken-Hey a chicken shake :lol: :lol: and we also serve a Steak Shake :lol: :lol:
He is acting more like his usual self & I already gave him his bupe! What a good good boy--Be back at pmps!!

Hi Roni. I'm so glad Copper is feeling well enough to eat. Extractons never kept Checkers from eating. With the pain meds, and having the nasty teeth out, it must feel so good for them.
Mine were always mean to one another after vet stay. I always felt sorry the the one being hissed at.
